I was wondering if there might be a smart way of comparing everything relevant that the market can offer taking all factors into account. You will refer me to the Cheap Energy Club ?Telegraph Sam

The devil you (think) you know?
There are 9 sites listed in what you sent with I suppose some variations in how they interpret the regs.Telegraph Sam

I'm not sure what you are saying here, all my wireless devices connect to my home WiFi. Why would you use a hotspot?

My Loyalty 14 M Fixed March 25 is drawing to a close in 3 months so I was making preliminary enquiries. I was pleasantly surprised to see that - on the proviso of no exit fee - the Octopus 12 M Fixed Jan 2026 v1 was showing top of the range (fixed and variable) for me in Cheap Energy Club. Switching now would cost an extra £90 p.a. I think I will stay put for the moment. May be other readers have had similar thoughts?

I do wish that the Cheap Enegy Club would put the actual rates upfront rather than a (nebulous) saving. Yes, you can click and get the rates but how many do that?

I agree and have always been very cynical about nebulous "savings". But somehow I have been able to extract the actual rates which is key to the whole exercise. I don't know if Uswitch & co are any better in this respect.

I'd be staying put for now. That January tariff is quite pricy, compared with Nov v3, that a lot of us jumped on, and it sounds like your existing tariff is better.
Especially as you may still use a lot of gas and electric, before we hit spring, there's no point paying more because the tariff is worse.

Makes sense. And things are due to change with the price cap fall out on 1st April as I understand it

Check using other comparison sites. Ensure you are looking at the whole of market. Make sure no other filters are affecting the results you see. Check separate gas and electric suppliers (if you need gas)
I am sure there are cheaper alternatives out there than the Octopus 12 M Fixed Jan 2026 v1 tariff.
Why give up the much more advantageous existing tariff you currently have from Octopus 3 months early, especially when you are probably using a high amount of energy at this time of year?
Having said that, there may be a better tariff available elsewhere today that beats what you have.
