" If you've got a smart phone with your Octopus account, it communicates with the app and you can see the information easily enough. It's totally intuitive once you've set it up. You just need an electrical socket close by your electricity meter to provide the mini with some power.
    Make £2025 in 2025"

True but it won't connect if you are using your 4GLTE phone as a WiFi hotspot, a common problem with quite a lot of "modern" software for doorbells and printers et al.

Well since the Octopus mini is a free add-on, if it works it works, if it doesn't, you're no worse off.

I go along with that though conversely zero exit fees is a reason for staying put!
Is there a forum or place where I can get myself educated about the Octopus Mini? Unknown territory

It's just handy, for being able to see live usage within the app. I can check if I have any/excess solar generation, and can turn appliances on remotely.

Good for knowing when's best to turn the washer and/or oil filled rads on, while lounging in bed in a morning.

I'd hate to be dependent on my smart (??) phone for anything remotely complicated or financial.
With the Mini is it the case that you get the same Octopus service as online but without having to get up other than to plug it in?

With the mini online and the app gets a couple of new frames/pages that shows you your real-time and recent electric usage.

Wonder if I posted this elsewhere, instead of here, or if it ate my post.. Anyway. ....

I'd uploaded a screenshot of what you see in the app.

I get the message that the main feature and advantage with the Mini is when you want to see real time live consumption, as opposed to historical data from the main website.

Elec: The easy part is to congratulate myself on the savings I am currently making @ 22.92 p/kWh inc VAT, Fixed. The difficult part is to work out the trade-off against my 58.46 p / day inc VAT SC compared with alternative tariffs to come up with an overall "optimum".  Task for AI?

Is there generally a danger of confusing rates with and without VAT??

Task for a calculator, or a back of an envelope, or (if you do this as often as I was back when this forum was full of people trying to switch) a simple spreadsheet.
AI will give you a convincing-looking answer that might still be completely wrong.
Exactly what are you trying to compare?
