Word seems to be going around from Martin Lewis and others that one should submit a meter reading by or on 1st July with the price cap change in mind. I guess this doesn't apply to those on fixed tariffs? Also I can't see the logic in doing so if one is on Tracker or Agile unless I'm missing the point

If you're with Octopus (and this is an Octopus thread) and have a smart smart meter, they'll take a reading for the changeover automatically.

Correct, not relevant to fixed tariffs.
Also I can't see the logic in doing so if one is on Tracker or Agile unless I'm missing the point
    Also correct.

USwitch seem to be making a lot of noise about the new unbeatable Fuse tariff. I crunched a few numbers. In my situation I could save about £71 out of a gas spend of £550, and about £52 out of a elec spend of £832. Against which there is an exit fee of £50 on each fuel. Interesting - but I'm not rushing for the door yet

My current tariff is Loyal 14 M Fixed = 22.92 / kWh and 58.46 / day. It has some time to run yet but it would be interesting to know how it is viewed in competitiveness by the expert community on this site.
Solar outgoing is 12 M Fixed which looks like it will renew on the same terms as before: 15p
Gas is on 12 M Fixed 5.73p / kWh and 31.37/day. It has almost a year yet  to run.
The no exit fee counts for several p/kWh in my book.
I suppose there is an argument in favour of Fixes as winter approaches.

Be aware that outgoing Octopus is no longer FIXED. It's currently still paying 15p, but could change if Octopus decide to.

Very true. And if they reduce that 15p, I’m off to a cheaper competitor. It’s now the only thing keeping me with Octopus.

I believe that the 15p is in addition to the 24 - 25p FIT generation payment that I get from my previous supplier Scot Power. Together quite an argument in favour of the status quo.
