Something of interest.I was able to do 4 spins on the phone app, even though electric is no longer with Octopus. However Octopus have now finally removed the electric tariff details completely from the website, there is no longer a box saying we cant take your readings, its gone completely. With it, all my electric history is gone as well. Although still visible on the phone, just took screenshots of all the graphs.1

The constantly changing fixes just make you feel ripped off when you forget to check the latest fix for a few weeks and miss out by a few days. Great that you can switch for free of course. I've now set a DAILY reminder to check for new tariffs!4

Re discussions on changing tariffs. I posted the following link previously in a different thread. I can't remember where it came from but it does seem to be a or the way of changing tariffs online directly
You substitute the a/c no in place of the x's.
With apologies for infringing someone's copyright, I can get reported for that (:
Then there is the discussion about which method brings the quickest results. Emails can be fired off easily enough but can result in long response times. Approaches via Twitter tend to get positive reviews from many forumites, though not instantaneously. Phone calls to Octopus HQ can also make for long waits - I have usually budgeted for 2 or more renditions of Jailhouse Rock (EP) before getting through, and one is not always sure that the respondent is fully clued up. That said, on the most recent occasion I got through before EP had even got started, and the agent was most helpful. He agreed to backdate me onto the 14-M March 2025 v 4 Loyalty tariff even though it had officially passed the deadline. Pleasant surprise.
I predicted that this (going fixed) move was the smart thing to do because with the increase in the cap, variable rates like Tracker, which I switched out of recently, would be likely to rise also. However whenever I have checked the reverse has seemed to be the case. Tracker has been trading at a comfortable discount. Can't win.

There are also unknown unknowns - the one's we don't know we don't know1 -
Whilst I was with Tracker I combined this with credits to my "export" account [@ 15 p / kWh]. Having now moved to the 14-M March 2025 Fixed tariff I can't see any confirmation in so many words that the latter can continue to be combined with credits to the export a/c. Cause for concern?Telegraph Sam

Imagine how ripped off you would feel back when everything had extortionate exit fees.0 -
I would guess at least half the market takes whatever their provider offers, believing they are well "protected" by the "lovely" chaps at Ofgem and their ever expanding workforce. Some people still shop in the same supermarket they have always shopped in and pay whatever is demanded. There is limited choice in the energy market due to the complex way it is structured and it is up to the consumer to avoid the more blatant rip-off aspects. Octopus is one of the better companies, I believe, but then that is not saying a lot.0

Cause for concern? You have not changed your export tariff, so your exports remain at 15p/kWh as that export tariff is still allowed with your new fixed import tariff.Your export tariff is also shown on the Octopus app and your account page online.1

Odd. Whenever I call I'm listening to 'I believe'"Research suggests that the #1 song from the year you were 14 is statistically likely to deliver the biggest hit of nostalgia, so we've set up our phones to play you precisely that song when you call in. If it's not a winner, you can set your own hold music, picking from a list of #1s from over the years on your online account. Want to pick yours?
