Rember just because you fixed today doesn't mean there won't be another cheaper one next week. It's a game of low water mark you are trying to stay on the lowest fix you can.

There will be lots of us on august/September fixes that currently this remains more cost, but I expect it won't be long till we are able to renew our fixes lower too
you can keep renewing your tariff to the lowest cost free of charge and also extending your end date
so if your on a higher price tariff than the current deal i would be looking at the latest deal
The problem is knowing when a cheaper fixed tariff has been made available. There's no go-to website (other than scrolling through hundreds of posts on this forum). Your dashboard on your Octopus account doesn't even show a switch tariff option let alone tell you of newer tariffs.

I found out when my bill arrived on Sunday saying there's a cheaper Loyal Octopus 14M Fixed I can switch to. So, having discovered the website had no option to switch tariff, I sent an email to Octopus requesting to change to it. They replied saying I was already on Octopus 14M Fixed - yes, I was on the January tariff not the new March tariff. They then reply today saying the March tariff no longer exists, but here's a new Loyal Octopus 12M Fixed tariff with higher unit prices!

I was in a similar predicament having emailed them without a response. I called them on 08081641088 and they were able to find my original email requesting the tariff change (to a now expired tariff) and not only did they switch me to the expired tariff they also backdated the request when I asked them to. Make sure you have the unit rates handy for the requested tariff as they struggled to find mine initially.

You can easily go direct to the Octopus website and check your options in a couple of mins...
Just type your postcode and hit enter, do not ask for a quote.

Thanks for link, interesting that both Tracker and Agile are still on the old s/c. Energy Local April 2025 has the lowest standing charge but does not seem to be applicable to Torbay yet, some kind of variant on Agile allied to the energy produced locally (there are a few big solar farms outside Totnes). I await the zero s/c tariffs later this year with interest, for now a combined gas and electric s/c of £24-ish will have to suffice. PS hit the filter box to get rid of the business tariffs.

That's helpful - thanks - I didn't notice there was a postcode box at the bottom beneath the big pink "Get a quote" button and the misleading text beneath which states:
Or if you're an existing customer and you want to switch tariffs, go to change my tariff on your online account dashboard.
When "change my tariff" doesn't exist in my dashboard.

It's not obvious that that's the route to the information I wanted. Thanks again. I'll save that for next time...

They will probably launch a new Tracker tariff this week with the new s/c. I believe last year's April 2024 Tracker tariff wasn't made available until 3rd April.

Whilst I got nowhere on email, I tried a DM on Twitter and they got back to me within half-an-hour and backdated me to the Loyal Octopus 14M Fixed March 2025 v4 tariff from when I sent my original email on Sunday - far better experience than email. Why are their customer services on Twitter amazing but on email awful?? I had the same experience when trying to leave the Tracker tariff at the end of January.

They are very poor in responding to emails in my experience.
A good old fashioned telephone call still seems the best way to get a quick response.

Phone call or X/Bluesky. My email enqueries seemed to be answered by a bot, they parroted my question back to me and asked that I contact them again if it was not resolved!
