I only use Chase in places where my Amex cashback isn't accepted. That mostly means Greggs and Home Bargains. Greggs definitely won't count in future, Home Bargains I don't think will count as grocery even though that is what I buy there.

So unless anyone has any better suggestions, I will go back to using my Barclaycard Rewards, and Chase will be going in my overseas wallet.
But Chase will not give you cashback abroad so you will be better using the Barclaycards Rewards. (only 0.5% though so not as good as Chase has been)

Annoying as it is, it should still pay for me £3.50 a month (from Diesel, and Food), still a very good APR on the minimum amount I keep in there now.

Just very annoying as going Abroad was the main reason I got the card, as that got a good amount of cashback over the 2 weeks. Any suggestions on a new card to use abroad?
Barclaycard Rewards will give you 0.5% cashback abroad. Good exchange rate, no fees. Also, a BC plus is not interest charge on cash taken from ATM abroad until your statement date. TBH BC rewards has always been a better abroad card except for the lesser cashback rate.

Barclaycard Rewards? 0.25% cashback, and no foreign exchange markup, but it does use the Visa rate rather than the mastercard rate, so the benefit is about 0.15% on average over a perfect Mastercard. Use a Mastercard debit for cash withdrawals.

Note, if you want to compare historical Visa and Mastercard rates, you need to compare the Visa rate with the Mastercard rate from the day before. Visa reports its rates daily at midnight UK time, Mastercard reports them at 3pm New York Time which is usually 8pm UK time, though they move their clocks forward and back on different dates to us.

Do you think it interest would still apply at discount stores like H@me B@rgains and BeeAndEmm? We get a lot of our food from those stores
In the same boat, annoyed at this news.

Anyone happen to know if Costco spend will activate Chase cashback under the new rules? Ditto Costco fuel spend?

Seem to remember from somewhere that Costco might be classed as a "Club" rather than a food retailer.

I will use Chase for cash withdrawals, as it is Mastercard rate rather than Visa rate and Barclaycard doesn't give cashback on them.

I've just checked with them. M&S Food qualifies for cash back.

I wonder how that will work?  Last time I bought M&S underwear I paid for it along with some more edible consumables at the food checkout.  So what Merchant Category Code (MCC) would be presented?

I've got a Simply Food store near me. I asked them to check a recent transaction.

From in app chat: "I can see that this is with Marks & Spencer. The merchant falls under Grocery Stores and Supermarkets. This merchant is qualified for cashbacks".
