Chase Cashback changing

Who do you bank with after?cactusdust said:I'll be ditching mine after the April change. Doesn't hurt to boycott another US company in this climate too.0 -
Who has others moved to since the Chase cashback has been massively reduced?
Since they appeared in the UK, I’ve used mine mainly for my own spending away from household stuff, as this comes from a different budget. I buy very little food and drink on it (unfortunately, there’s no cashback for pints in the pub 😆). I only buy one tank of diesel per month and rail tickets for one trip into the office per week. It’s earning me minimal these days.
The spending abroad is still good, although other accounts and providers could match that.
A family member suggested switching to Monzo because it offers cashback with selected retailers. What do you think?
Apparently I am the original tight fisted Yorkshire Man!!0 -
Or, keep both accounts open, spend on Monzo for the retailers that attracts cashback there and spend on Chase for the retailers that attract cashback there?Lee_Howden said:A family member suggested switching to Monzo because it offers cashback with selected retailers. What do you think?
The Monzo list is quite small tbh and is quite niche. Currently it has 14 things listed on there, of which one is a football club (Coventry), one requires a Vodafone PAYG phone, one requires you to be hiring a car, and another requiring you to spend £200 with Samsung.
In fact the only one on Monzo which you would get on Chase also is a 2% one time cashback purchase on Lidl.0 -
Trading212. Usually 0.5% cashback with a few exceptions. Has a promotion for 1.5% but it ends at the beginning of September.Lee_Howden said:Who has others moved to since the Chase cashback has been massively reduced?

I'll still keep mine just for bits & bobs I get from Aldi as the shop is just a 5 min walk from my house. For other stuff I'll probably use my cashback Barclaycard more as its 0.5% on everything. Also do some stoozing in higher value transaction which gives a greater return anyway.

I still use Chase for food shopping and fuel, as these are sort of things I have to buy anyway.I have a legacy Aqua Credit Reward card which AFAIK still pays 0.5% cashback on everything I shove through it, though I believe this stopped being offered a while back to new customers on this account.0

No need to move. We use Chase when we are using retailers that give the cashback. (We use another bank account as our main account anyway.)Lee_Howden said:Who has others moved to since the Chase cashback has been massively reduced?
Other times we use Barclaycard reward credit card (only 0.25% cashback but better than nothing) We use the BC abroad too, with chase as a back up should BC not work.0 -
I’m in a similar boat to a few others here. I originally opened Chase mainly for the 1% cashback on everything and the no overseas transaction fees. Now that cashback is limited to specific UK categories, it’s lost a lot of its appeal for me.At the moment I’m leaning towards a split-card approach rather than a like-for-like replacement, as there doesn’t seem to be one anymore. I’m not rushing to close Chase, but it’s definitely gone from “main account” to “selective use only”. Curious to see if anyone’s found a better all-in-one alternative, but so far it seems most of us are having to mix and match now.1

A 0% purchase credit card with a long introductory period is far better than cashback. Chase is still handy for ATMs abroad, but then there seems to be no shortage of these cards available now0

We took advantage of the Lloyds ultra credit card which offers 1% cashback on purchases for 12 months (we’ve had cashback
on every item we have bought in the last 4 months) we pay in full every month and expect to have a decent chunk of cashback when it pays out in January.LLOYDS cc is similar to Chase for fee free overseas use.Not really sure why I’ve kept the Chase acct open - probably laziness - haven’t used it in a long time.Lancashire
