I did a little test the other day. I made an overseas payment with the chase bank card and noted the exchange rate on my statement. Immediately afterwards I did the same € transaction with my T212 card. T212 had a better rate than the mastercard rate. I also compared it to Wise for converting to €, who I always thought were the cheapest and they beat them too! It's a pity that Chase are almost axing the cashback and have drastically cut interest. It is not good for their business

is there is there a list of what will give you  1% cash back at chase, for example we shop at Costco for petrol and food. They talk about the supplier code, but no idea how you can get that.

I'm not sure anyone will know until they start using the adjusted scheme.

Unconfirmed by Chase, but anecdotal posts across forums suggest CostCo will NOT be one of the MCC (supplier code) that will earn you cashback, post 1 April 2025.

    7 April

In response to original question I do note if you click on the details of a current transaction it does show a category (for example my last spend was at Lidl it shows as Groceries).  Not sure how reliable this is but worth a look.

These changes are too much hassle, so I'm ditching and I've now got the Santander Edge card which which will give 2% for the first year, which makes the £3 per month fee much less of an issue.

Costco warehouses use an MCC which isn't usually grouped in with grocery retailers, something like 'Warehouse Club' or similar from memory. They (probably) won't be included in the cashback.

Costco filling stations use a standard PFS MCC though, they probably will be included.

I did the same. Closed the account and don't care if they won't let me back. I did the same with Starling. The threats of "if you leave you can never come back" is very bad for business and gives a very unfriendly message to potential future customers.

Same and realised I won’t miss the transferring £1500 in and out or constantly checking and moving money to make sure I’ve got enough in current account to cover that days expenditure.

Is it time to try out the Trading 212 Spending Card?
    Only 0.5% cash back versus Chase’s 1%
    But 0.5. > 0!

seems to have the same benefits of no FX fees etc
    thoughts anyone?
This is exactly what I've done.

I've switched on round-ups and chosen to Invest them in the Amundi Smart Overnight Return GBP Hedged (Acc) fund. It's the closest thing you'll get to cash and very low risk (caveat emptor).
