No, mine shows the name and number whilst ringing.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

My phone has been bugging me for ages - insists on trying to show a caller display ID when it doesn't receive one (so I get a line of dots, a question mark and a picture of a little blokey!). This is going to really knark it!! (or make it sigh with relief!!).

Anyway, many thanks - took two attempts as the first time the automated person just went off for a coffee half way through her speil - rang again and she'd obviously had her caffeine injection and felt a lot better (did wonder if she was ever going to shut up at one stage mind :D)

Was encouraged when Edinburghlass mentioned being on TalkTalk - wasn't sure if it would work not using BT for calls. Shhhh. :shhh:

Some phones only have small lcd screens, so alternate the number then name, repeatedly.
The name will only appear if it is previously stored in your phones memory (phonebook)

NTL now charge £1.75 too, so it will be interesting to see how they react. Bet they keep it quiet.

    Pinkonion hi,
Should this thread be titled "BT abolish Caller-Display, for some" ?

I managed to sign up online 55 mins ago without any problems.

They state some calls must be made via their network, I take it one call is classed as some?

Actually, you don't even need to call from the line concerned - the message asks you to enter your home phone number and I found you can enter any number you like...
Thanks for that. I just naturally thought for security/confirmation reasons you would need to ring from the landline concerned so that BT could get your landline number from the CLI (Caller Line Identity).

I use talktalk - don't use BT for calls at all, just line rental, and had no problems (apart from the aforementioned automated lady going off for a coffee and not coming back part way through her talk!). Think it might just be a matter of keep trying. I just tried the number mentioned, didn't bother with any prefix. HTH. ;)

I also use Talk Talk and called the freephone number earlier and entered my details and I now have caller ID. Thank you. I did have to ring the number a couple of times though!
