BT Abolish Caller Display Charge

I just signed up online and within five minutes I had caller display, then sat and looked at the number and thought who the heck is that :rotfl:
As it happened it was Aliasojo from MSE so I answered!
The first call I made was answered but it didn't proceed, so as I use TalkTalk as CPS I dialled 1280 and then the free phone number just incase the automated system needed to "see" my number.
As its a free phone number Brodev, you could try signing up for it via the free phone number and see what instructions you get?0 -

You could ring your bank and ask them for the customer reference number they quote when paying BT by DD. The number should begin with 2 letters and then digits i.e. AB01234567~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

And after aliasojo attended to her screaming 5 year old who had hurt herself by jumping down the last few stairs insteading of walking like a 'normal' person...........she then signed up for this too, lol.
Should add that after Edin/lass mentioned dialling the 1280 number first, I did that too and the call just seemed to stop after the welcome to blah blah bit, so it can't made a difference. The second attempt worked fine though.
Just need someone to phone me now to try it out. :whistle:Herman - MP for all!0 -

The 1st twice I phoned that happened to me too - but worked fine the 3rd time (I didn't bother using 1280 on any of the calls - despite being with OneTel on CPS).0 -

In fact, I entered 5 different numbers (5 different calls) and signed up the whole family (those I knew to have caller display capable DECT phones) and activated them all.Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").0 -
Rang BT re another matter today and, after being on phone 30 mins one call, then cut off and 27 mins on another (is this the vent board!!!), managed to cancel my current caller display subscription. I was told they were unable to reinstate the free caller display on the phone (this wasn't available until Thursday - bizarre!) but I could use their website (https://www.bt.com/btprivacy) where I could re-activate caller display for free.
Hope this helps.
PS I had to ask for the free caller display, I don't think they would have offered so watch out! There's no woman sicker than the woman who is sick on her day off !0 -
