Hmmm. I'm not convinced. I suspect there's a catch here, related to the number of calling features or the size of your package (if you'll pardon the expression).
It seems to me you will end up paying either the SAME or MORE if you have gone into the next price band of calling features.
I will keep my powder dry and keep a watching brief!0 -
You dont have to take 1571.It gves you an option to have this free, and other chargeable star services. But you can just have free caller display on its own, if you so desire, with the TPS listing.PF.0

Ok, i worked for BT up until yesterday and I can definitely confirm that there is free caller display from today onwards.
I was going to come and post this today as it was "confidential" until today, but they have rebranded the whole deal, so now, with bt privacy option you can request free caller display.
The ONLY catch is you must phone to ensure it is free, as if you don't, you will continue to pay for caller display if you have it. The BT advisor will ask you if you make any calls through BT. Always say yes, as they will not check this. I myself use 18866 and only use BT when it's by mistake!!
Hope this clears it up.
extra note - they spent a LOT of money rebranding this....and really the only thing that people will be interested in is the fact that caller display is now free.26/09/2017 - Started comping again. Wins so far: 1!

Still not clear if I can apply for the Privacy at Home. (And typical as I ordered caller display 3 weeks ago). I am now with OneTel for CPS, but of course you are able to override using 1280 back to BT.
But would they just turn around and say that all my calls are now routed through OneTel and therefore I do not qualify?0 -

Rang them earlier and had no problem in cancelling caller display and then reordering it as part of Privacy Service. Did not even ask about my calling patterns.0 -
BT Privacy At Home doesn't include 1571 only Caller Display and registration to TPS (Telephone Preference Services).
Having just rung Customer Services they informed me that I had to ring a dedicated automated line, 0800 916 5544.
This automated line informed me that although we presently subscribed to Caller Display it would now become free (changes can take upto 24hrs to complete) and it gave me an option to register for TPS which I declined.
Having done this today, I can't confirm whether or not it is free until our next bill comes in which is about Sept now. Even if it isn't free (though the automated line did say it was) I won't have lost anything as we were already subscribing to Caller Display anyhow at £1.75 per month.
Thanks to the OP and other members for mentioning this.0
