Thanks and that’s a great help.
I wasn’t sure from the old posts whether 1 July 2005 was the date free caller display started or whether it was the date this thread was updated (as some posts about it were before 1 July 2005).
Do you know the date BT Privacy at Home started please?0 -

However, inclusive calls (e.g. the free weekend UK 01/02/03 calls of up to 60 minutes each available as part of the Unlimited Weekend Plan) count as chargeable calls - so Caller Display and 1571 will be absolutely free to those making the necessary number of calls at the weekend. Quote from Heinz's post.
Is the above correct, I thought inclusive unlimited weekend plan does not count as chargeable calls? I use 18185 for my calls but make 6 calls per quarter for caller display. I am getting confused. Thanks0 -

I was ably assisted by BritBrat in coming to realise that - see HERE.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
I've just looked at my 2nd quarterly on-line bill since signing up for Weekend and Evenings. I wish it would show me the free calls I've made, just so I had a record. I could then get some idea of how much I've saved!! :j I bet BT know!!
Got that off my chest!! :rotfl:0 -
Thanks for replies.
My calls are with my Internet provider AOL and I have been trying to make 2 BT calls a month to avoid incurring charges for the caller display. I followed the link provided by JHP above (thanks) http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumerProducts/displayProduct.do?productId=CON-3399&s_cid=con_FURL_personal/privacyathome&bvurl=/personal/privacyathome
which says that “if you would like to make one-off calls that are chargeable to your BT bill then simply dial the numbers 1280 before you dial the phone number you wish to call”.
I did this several times but it did not work.
Does anyone know about this please?0 -

regarding 1280 not working with certain providers.0 -
Thanks. I have had a not very successful conversation with BT who say that my internet provider AOL who provides my calls is not on a list of providers that are excluded from dialling 1280. They say that so long as I continue to pay line rental, am signed up to BT Privacy at Home and have a caller display (all of which I do) then dialling 1280 will work but is didn’t several times.
Can anyone help please?0 -
I have heard that posts elsewhere are saying that a BT Chargecard can be used to make the couple of chargeable calls necessary to get the free caller display (if 1280 doesn't work).
Has anyone any experience of using the BT Chargecard for this please?
