Good. But how often do you need to do this ?0 -
Once a month/quarter will be fine.PF.0

It could be *much* worse than that - if you don't make the calls then presumably you'll be breaking the conditions of "BT Privacy" and thus BT will be free to charge you the usual subscription charge for this service (£1.50/month?)
Until I know I won't be charged either way - I'm not going to sign up for BT privacy...0 -

Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Sorry if I'm repeating things, but i haven't got time at the moment to read all 22 pages at the moment, I got BT to credit me back to the time they started the 0800 121 8000 privacy thing. They claim because it is a different service and I would need to ask them to change me from paying for "Caller Display" to the free Privacy service including caller display. I originally phoned the 0800 number and it said that my phone could not sign up to it but try the 0845 number, which I did and they implemented the privacy thing but no mention of the Caller Display. I checked my phone bill when it came in and there are 2 lines on it both 1 Jul - 30 Sep, Caller Display stating 0.00 (FOC) then underneath it, there was a charge for the BT calling Features pack, (which is actually a charge for the caller display).
I phoned 150 and on the 3rd person when I insisted in talking to a manager she was very competant and said the Bill is misleading and although it looks like Caller Display is free, indeed it is charged for on the very next line.
I tried to get my point over that all those who are paying for it and at least making some calls on thier BT line should be given the service FOC without having to ask for it. Because of the apperance of being free they credited me back to when it started. So go for it. Its only pence to save but its more the principle of it. Treat existing users at least as good as new ones.if i had known then what i know now0 -
My first BT bill since joining BT privacy has arrived. All my calls go CPS and the only BT 'calls' during the past 2 months have been a few 'ring back's (grand total of 62p). No charge for caller ID for July and August. And no advance charge for caller ID September to November (it is even itemised at 0.00 on the bill).0

I used to pay for my caller display .About 3 years ago I phoned BT and asked them to disconnect it .To this day it still works and I have never been billed for it since.
About a year ago I opted for BT on line billing ,there on the first bill was FREE caller display .Its never been on it since .So maybe if you just ask BT to disconnect your caller display it would have the same effect as BT privacy without having to make a call via BT .I have signed up to the TPS when I joined Talk Talk .0 -
