That's when dialling out and your number being displayed on the other persons caller display, or when someone calling you is using 18866. You will find your number will be displayed as international to the person you are calling before 18:00 weekdays.
My response was to the question asked which I believe due to this thread is with regard to getting caller display for free and not what the person who you are calling has, was will having 18866 prefixed to the stored numbers make a difference to the name/number displayed when the persons whos number is stored rings in.It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
I signed on to Caller Display yesterday and it was on within a few mins.
Would you believe the one and only call I have had so far is one of those pre-recorded "congratulations you have won etc. etc." type.
It came up "out of area" if anyone is interested..

To BT landlines yes most of the times, occasionally like I have just received a call from a 18866 user the number is prefixed 0044.It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... Mobiles display the number correctly as they display international formated numbers fine. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... If you don't yet have a phone with a caller-id display to check it out you can dial
*#234#
on most exchanges and this will give you a short message saying whether caller-id is presently on or off.0 -

ditto.
works within minutes. Signed up by phone, after several attempts.
She does go on!
After signing up for BT privacy at home and got that 'you have won an offer' American voiced message shortly afterwards,
showing as 'Private' on my Binatone cordless display.
Phone from ARGOS using regular NiCad batteries, BT products use expensive proprietary replacement battery pax. Typical BT.
Recommend get cordless phone with ordinary NiCad batteries, and big number store for CID.

Good thread.
Some people just make a habit of knocking BT without getting their facts right.
A simple check at the BT website and the link to the BT shop shows all their phones most of which use rechargeable NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride) batteries. Far far superior to NiCads.0 -
April2 wrote:1st July 2005 - Caller Display IS NOW FREE to BT residential customers who make 'some' calls via BT.
This can be activated by calling the automated order line:
0800 916 55 44
N.B. There's a second option when you make that call - to register for the Telephone Preference Service (to stop cold callers).
You can choose either or both options just by pressing keys in response to the voice prompts.
Official Insert
To qualify for the free caller display you will need to sign up for the new FREE service they are launching, Privacy at Home which also includes the free option of Telephone Preference Service.
What about those of us who already pay for Caller Display?
Do you reckon BT are going to automatically stop charging you for this?
Or do you still need to order using this phone no? (and then do u have to cancel you're paid-for caller display service).0
