This is interesting, If I become an Ebid gold or lifetime member, Ebid will advertise my items on Bing and Google search engines !
At the moment I can't afford to shell out nearly £140.00 for their lifetime membership... back in 2006 when I first joined Ebid I remember their lifetime membership was only £50 !... wish I had paid for that back then !
Here's a screenshot taken from Ebid showing all the membership advantages. (Note Gold and Lifetime members are only allowed to use and offer PayPal for payments in their listings)... So I may try out their Gold membership for £9.99 a month which gives me 100 free listings... and see how it goes...

From past experience I know that Royal Mail 48 hour tracked service is not always reliable, ie, it is sometimes slow and the postman does not always log it on their scanner as "Delivered" which results in no proof of delivery.
The best service from Royal Mail is "Special Delivery" although it's now getting pretty expensive !, it gives you piece of mind with a guaranteed delivery proof, prompt reliable next day delivery (which buyers like) and insurance of the item value just in case the worst does happen !.
For heavier items ParcelForce 48 hour delivery service has always served me well with full tracking delivery confirmation and insurance of up to £100 as standard.
eBay's managed delivery, now no longer allow these services to be used and we private sellers are basically at eBay's mercy.... Which is not very good.
Special Delivery is overkill if all you’re using it for is tracking. I only use it if a customer needs guaranteed next day delivery and then make sure they pay the extra its costs. I would never cover the cost of Special Delivery out of my own pocket. Over insuring post is throwing money away.
I wouldn’t use ParcelFarce out of choice, had far too many problems with them over the years. I have a contract with FedEx who are much cheaper and many times more reliable than PF.1 -

EDIT apologies I just realised you did say that you’ve been a member since 2006 so the rest of this post doesn’t apply unless you can use the ‘other upgrade’ route.
Actually just found this if it applies in your case.
PLATINUM LIFETIME is currently available for £69.98 if upgrade takes place within 24 hours of registration OR any other upgrade.

i am surprised at how much ebid has increased their costs though!

I have also thought about Gumtree but don't like the idea of all sorts of strange people calling around the house, as they don't have a payment model like PayPal to process payments... It is more like a classified ad setup with them...0 -

Just been exploring Ebid and apparently if I have gold membership there I can import my eBay seller feedback which is very helpful.
Looking at their searches for "Old plug" and the results, whilst not over populated like eBay, They still show enough relevant items which are quite useful. and show PayPal as one of the payment methods which is my main attraction ! as this = INSTANT BUYER PAYMENT !
