I can't find that message in my eBay messages, I think it may have been under their marketing message I had received and I deleted it in anger !  :(

However there is a link stating what eBay are doing with simple delivery and what private sellers should expect:-

    https://www.valueaddedresource.net/ebay-simple-delivery-managed-shipping/

"eBay is ramping the rollout of Simple Delivery by making it the default shipping option in the listing form for most private sellers, though currently sellers can still choose to opt out when creating a listing.

However, that opt out choice will be removed sometime in Q1 2025 as eBay plans to make Simple Delivery (also sometimes referred to as Managed Shipping) mandatory for private sellers on all eligible items - though an exact date has not yet been set.

That news wasn't announced directly to sellers, but rather dropped into the Q3 2024 earnings call with CEO Jamie Iannone explaining to investors how Managed Shipping will be phased in to boost the company's revenue."

Maybe @bittyboy101 works for Ebid?!  There goes my credibility 🤣
According to their accounts they have two employees, so what are the odds? :D

The odds are there are lots of undercover eBay people on here who can't have a bad word said about mighty eBay !

Yes, they can't employ anyone for customer service but they put people on patrol on here to put in a bit of positive PR...

I already posted that link above but they have nothing official from eBay to back it up.  They even say it has not been announced to sellers.

I still have the email from eBay sent in December and it says nothing about simple delivery being mandatory from Feb 4th as you stated.

That link even says no date has been set yet 🤷‍♂️

That's simple. They will grow when more and more runaway ex eBay sellers start joining Ebid and supporting them, they might even be many investors out there who loathe eBay and who will invest lots of money into Ebid to build it up out of spite !!, as with some minor tweaking it can be a good site with potential and has many of the characteristics of the old original eBay (including PayPal !) which is very appealing for many people wanting quick payment for their sold items.

They've got £60 in the bank, they need a bit more than minor tweaking. You may as well do a garage sale outside your house. Ebid have had loads of opportunities to grow when a few more than 150 disgruntled Ebay sellers left, it never worked, it never will. No one but you and a few dozen others are that bothered about this change. The petition had less than 200 signatures last time I looked.

I think they have much more than £60 in the bank.... The only opportunities they missed was when eBay tried to buy them out so they could close them down and were refused eBay's kind offer !.... Sadly these wealthy Americans think that they can buy just about anything with their money !  Their attitude stinks.

I say good on the English owners of Ebid for standing their ground and refusing to sell Ebid to eBay only for eBay to destroy it.

The £60 is from their certified accounts at Companies House. So they wouldn't have had more money at the time of those accounts going in.
As far as I can tell Ebay have never tried to buy them out. Presumably it made the press, have you got a link?
Oh and 50% of the directors of Ebid live in the US.

This was my own thread I started at the end of December 2024 regarding the changes of eBay...

So no official announcement of simple delivery being mandatory from Feb 4th.  But it is expected at some point in the near future.

Ok good, glad we got that cleared up!

You must have inherited a lot of locks or been a big collector at some point. You appear to have turned over several thousand pounds selling various locks over a short period.

I have always had a fascination with locks and started collecting them since 1991 when I was 14, I found them in various places like in skips still in old doors and lots were given to me by friends and relatives.

I now have far too many and wanted to de-clutter my spare room and my workshop so I can have more machine tools in their place.

My sales on eBay have always been good until 2021 when they killed everything with all their awful changes.

I hope you've checked out the market for them on Ebid. There doesn't appear to be any listed compared to several thousand on Ebay.

Yes I noticed this too !

...I may be the only one then selling vintage locks on Ebid until the other sellers come and join me if I decide to go that route :)

Will need to find a way to direct more buyers to my listings on Ebid via Facebook and Instagram.

With all honesty, I really did love selling on eBay until recently, even with the slow sales I was prepared to carry on, as I was still getting the odd sale every now and then, but the thought of eBay managing the delivery process is a big no for me and this has made me make the hard decision to cease selling on eBay after 18 great years since 2007 til now.
