If you believe that old chestnut that eBay's had 200 million visitors in 2024 then you definitely believe in eBay !... because in all reality it certainly does not appear to be true no matter what fancy figures eBay state online...anyone can write anything they want and hide behind their big brand name... but whether it's true or a little over exaggerated there is no definite way of knowing for sure and we only have eBay's word for it which is basically hearsay !...

They're not Ebay figures. Both these sites offer view stats. They vary slightly but the difference in scale to Ebid is clear. I don't think it's that hard to believe that Ebay has 1000+ times traffic to Ebid. Amazon has 2-3 times traffic of Ebay from Dec '24. Amazon usually has much higher traffic than Ebay.
Go and survey some friends and family and ask who's heard of Ebid, they won't know what you're talking about.

From what you say you're not doing good on Ebay so it's understandable you're trying elsewhere. I just think you've picked the wrong place. Let us know how you get on with Ebid. Have a search here to find other sellers who've tried Ebid.

That’s a good point RFW and and one that mirrors my question to bittyboy asking what ratio of purchases they make on ebid as opposed to eBay. Just thinking about it from my point of view, I mentioned earlier that I don’t sell on Amazon anymore , but I’m not at all surprised they are considerably bigger than eBay, as my own buying habits would support that view. Just because I don’t use them to sell due to the silly Catch 22 situation of not being able to pass business verification, doesn’t mean I don’t acknowledge their success.

only 1 sale happening every 5 - 6 weeks ! which is just not acceptable.    .
That’s more sales than you’ll get on ebid.
Well, that remains to be seen.

As I said, don’t hold your breath.  If you can’t sell
something on eBay you have even less chance selling it on ebid.  You’d have a lot more luck on Facebook Marketplace or Gumtree than ebid.

I said earlier that there are millions more potential buyers on eBay than ebid and you said you don’t want to sell millions.  But you missed the point entirely.  Because of those millions more potential buyers that eBay has, you have a better chance of selling than on a platform that has millions of visitors less.

Yes I wasted my money on an ebid lifetime membership too.  At one point I had around a 100 listings on there and only made 1 sale over the space of a few years.  The same products over the same timescale on eBay sold in the tens of thousands.  But you’ve made your mind up.  You believe you know better than people here that have had years of experience on ebid and discovered a long time ago it was a waste of time.  You’ll find out for yourself eventually.

For all those who run down Ebid,

Ok, it's a small fish in the pond compared to eBay and Amazon, eBay was once great 5 - 10 years ago but now since Vinted came along, it seems that eBay felt so threatened and shamed by Vinted they are having to offer free to sell on eBay for Private sellers because Vinted do this !... but now they are losing revenue so they are copying Vinted yet again by holding buyer's money until a confirmed delivery plus 2 days after the confirmed delivery date... this all translates into eBay holding all their seller's money for as long as possible to gain interest on it ! just like Vinted do !

eBay was great the way it was, They really didn't need to feel threatened from Vinted and start using them as a role model to copy from... It seems that the new management of eBay really don't have any ideas of their own so copycat other selling sites like Vinted !

Over the last 4 years my sales on eBay have really fallen off a cliff !, In 2018/2019 I was selling 15 items a week, sometimes multiple items to some repeat buyers who liked my items and came back for more !... now since Managed Payments and the new seller hub started my sales have ground to a halt with nothing getting seen or shown in the searches because eBay haven't bothered to index them onto their site (hence the zero views for 2 weeks in some  cases), they just don't have enough manpower or server space to show everyone's stuff all at the same time so all the small low paying sellers are now taking a back seat with their stuff either not being fully indexed for the searches or they are put 20 pages behind  where hardly anyone will search that far to be able to see them.

I have nothing against eBay personally but they should have just stuck with PayPal and left the site to work well like it has always done. By them copying Vinted, this is not a very smart move in the long run as they are only driving their long term sellers away and I dare say many like myself will now be migrating to places like Ebid and any other selling site where selling is straight forward and easy and you receive your buyer's payment promptly BEFORE posting anything giving you some reassurance.

Sites like Ebid will now grow rapidly once more and more sellers abandon eBay and look for somewhere else to sell.

To me Ebid is very attractive as it offers PayPal which gives me INSTANT PAYMENT as a seller and gives my buyer their rightful BUYER PROTECTION for 120 days instead of eBay's wimpy 30 days ! so everyone is happy.

Just to add that I really do not like eBay's Simple Delivery idea, especially when they force this on all private sellers from the 04th February 2025... I want the liberty to use the delivery service I feel comfortable with and not have eBay forcefully choose this on my behalf. This is a BIG NO ! and I feel very strongly about this and this is my main reason for no longer selling on eBay any more.

Ebid was started in 1999.  It had its chance and blew it.  Sellers have left eBay in droves many times over the years saying ebid will become successful and it’s never happened.  And it never will.

You only have to search Ebid on here over the years to see how they won't be growing any time soon. There have been various jump off points. Their best opportunity was about 15 years ago. From the accounts I posted earlier they had just over £600 in the bank at the end of 2023. They don't seem to have any money to spend on advertising, so how are they going to grow?

Here's a few of the longer Ebid threads started on here over the years. Some positive Ebid sellers use to post here regularly but stopped a few years ago.

That's simple. They will grow when more and more runaway ex eBay sellers start joining Ebid and supporting them, they might even be many investors out there who loathe eBay and who will invest lots of money into Ebid to build it up out of spite !!, as with some minor tweaking it can be a good site with potential and has many of the characteristics of the old original eBay (including PayPal !) which is very appealing for many people wanting quick payment for their sold items.

eBay are kidding themselves if they really believe that people are okay with waiting days for payments and sending their expensive items out to buyers they don't know with no reassurance that they will be paid !

I like the PayPal model, it is safe, convenient and fast to get paid and offers both seller and buyer protection - what more could a seller want ? and it's still offered as a payment method on Ebid so no eBay managed payments ! and long payment delays for when you sell something.

I can't see any way managed payments or seller hub can have any effect on page views? Starting to wonder now if it's a wind up?

because eBay haven't bothered to index them onto their site (hence the zero views for 2 weeks in some  cases), they just don't have enough manpower or server space to show everyone's stuff all at the same time so all the small low paying sellers are now taking a back seat with their stuff either not being fully indexed for the searches or they are put 20 pages behind  where hardly anyone will search that far to be able to see them.
Rotated visibility has been discussed for many years, nothing to do with servers and everything to do with more competition, eBay can't show everything, they do however favour listings that follow their latest ideas, 20 years ago you could list something and get a sale, now it takes a bit of work.

Ultimately if what you have is in good demand and at a competitive price (not just on eBay but elsewhere too) your items will sell.

Indeed but you might have wait a few years for something to sell ;)

They've got £60 in the bank, they need a bit more than minor tweaking. You may as well do a garage sale outside your house. Ebid have had loads of opportunities to grow when a few more than 150 disgruntled Ebay sellers left, it never worked, it never will. No one but you and a few dozen others are that bothered about this change. The petition had less than 200 signatures last time I looked.
