I just don't understand the people who aren't happy with eBay and seem to want to convince the people who are happy with eBay that the company is 'sinking' by relying on a review website that a lot of people don't seem to trust.
The only sites I don't trust is eBay and other pro-eBay sites with members who seem to think eBay is a bed of roses when it is now NOT !
This is not a 'pro-eBay site.
It's a public forum with a specific eBay/Vinted etc board where people ask questions and discuss issues & changes. Not just eBay but other selling platforms and couriers.
It has been very helpful to me in the past.

That eBay is NOT a bed of roses is your opinion (and maybe a few other posters).
It is NOT my opinion - and not the opinion of a greater number of posters.

    I 100% echo Spoonie_Turtle's post. 👋
I don't think I'm particularly pro Ebay. It costs me much the same as Amazon with a lot more work involved in getting a tenth of the sales, at best. That said I can't see them disappearing because they don't currently suit me. I know there are loads of sellers on there getting good results and Ebay's revenue seems to be holding up pretty well.
Early on they were really slow at catching on to how the market was developing and they ended up playing catch up. For the last decade or so they seem to have been ahead of the game quite a bit.

FWIW as a buyer and occasional private seller I think the 'simple delivery' could potentially hamstring the private selling market somewhat - not kill it, as clearly people will work out how to get on with it, but have a more significant impact than any of the other large changes I've been aware of.  Because if people can't get their heads round it they won't sell on there, and removing the ability to do combined postage will impact people's buying from private sellers.  But again that's only the private selling market, not the business - and for combined postage and MVLs etc., sales that are essentially diverted from private to business will likely offset any loss of buyers who give up on eBay because of the private selling difficulties.

And none of that is to do with the thread topic anyway!

In terms of this being a "pro-eBay site": I probably was reasonably pro-eBay before, because although it had its pitfalls sometimes and the odd seemingly arbitrary banning of people's accounts for reasons they won't disclose, on the whole it was probably one of the best available platforms for sellers and buyers.  (Nowhere is perfect.)
Now with simple delivery imposed, we'll see - but for categories that can't be sold on Vinted (or Etsy, but the fees there don't work for only occasional sellers), where else do people go?  I don't know the answer to that.  So overall I'm a little less pro-eBay than I used to be but I'm also fairly realistic, or at least I'd like to think so.

Ultimately I see no point anyone throwing their toys out of the pram and having shouty ab-dabs about real or imagined changes, especially on a forum that nobody from eBay even reads

Just an honest thought... I am wondering how many eBay investors and share holders are on these pro-eBay forums as they seem very well informed to eBay's placement in the online selling platform market and they seem to know an awful lot about eBay's revenue...

They have pushed it way too far now with very slow payments and now this silly dictated delivery which is NOT SIMPLE but a real pain.

I am so glad to not be selling online under such a over controlling platform who are only too happy to hold on to our buyer's sales money to plug the hole in their failing business due to share stupidity.

Nothing further to say, I'll leave the children to play...

You know you’ve lost the argument when you resort to calling everyone stooges because they don’t agree with you. 👏

And yet you yourself seem to think you know a lot about eBay's failing business simply by reading reviews on Trustpilot...

Hi, sorry in advance if this has been asked already. I'm extremely confused by this new system and it's put me right off selling. I have an existing listing for a valuable item with a price of over £200 so in order to get cover, I originally selected the Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed by 1pm option which provides compensation cover for up to £750.

It appears that my listing has changed today and I no longer have the option for special delivery. I can only choose my size (up to 10kg) and the courier (note that I avoid Evri due to bad past experiences). Will I still get the full cover? The other services don't seem to cover beyond £150.

    It says

"The buyer will pay rates starting from:
    £7.27
Based on the service they select"

What services can they select and what compensation cover do they provide? How do I ensure I am covered if the parcel goes missing?

    Thank you

    According to the ebay FAQs you would be covered against loss or damage;

    Simple Delivery | eBay

There are several benefits to using Simple Delivery, including:

    • You'll be protected if the item is lost or damaged from the point the item is scanned into the carrier's delivery network and until it's marked as delivered
Simple Delivery is available for eligible listings by private UK sellers listing on eBay.co.uk (including the eBay app).

    • £750 or less (Buy It Now price, auction starting price or reserve price)

I would recommend also reading the FAQs within the link above to make sure there aren't any restrictions on the item you have listied.

Also to add SD has two rates , with one for items > £100 which I assume covers the higher compensation possible.
