I once picked up a Sony SW-100E, an iconic Short Wave receiver that changes hands for between £100-£200 in working condition, for £4 in a charity shop.8

My best CS bargain of all time is a waterproof dog stroller pushchair bed carrier complete with weather hoodie surround and washable / machine washable detachable covers and body for £30. It was brand new & this particular model retailed at around £275-£350 for a size medium, which it was and was an item I really needed and still have - Absolute Bargain!~ NSD 2025 - NSD August 4/20 (7 x💯)# Spectos/Royal Mail Monitoring and Posting Panel - Ongoing - 1 x £25 Voucher Redeemed, 20 FREE Books of RM Stamps & Presentation Packs.~ Totally FREE Christmas 2025 - 🎁✉️🏷🎀💐🪪🗒🧺⭐️Completed Challenges 2025:# No.36 Make £2025 in 2025 £1934.34 / £2025 (95.5%) (3) 💯💯+# No.12 Save £2 a Day 2025 2025: £730/ £730 💯# No.27 Save 1p A Day 2025 £667.95 / £667.95 💯# No.19 52 Week Env Challenge £1378 / £1378 💯# No.34 Save £12k in 2025 £14,986.67 / £12,000 💯 - Continuing5

Just found this Phase Eight dress in the Cat’s Protection shop in Headingley. It was In their sale and reduced from £12 to £5. Original price £90. Think the reason it had hung about and was reduced was cos it’s a size 8. As I am not I was intending to make it into a skirt but as the style is quite voluminous and it has an elasticated waist I can get into it….yay! (It’s a bit bright tho innit?)7

Very pretty dress @Miró
My CS finds lately have been to resell for my charity fundraising. A full size Whittard teapot, handpainted stripes in green and blue for £5 in CR and a Tea for One pot, cup and saucer, also Whittard BN with labels in red polka dot design for £4.
I am aiming to finish my charity hike on Easter Sunday in Lands End so any Ebay/Vinted sales before then will add to the total of £16.5k raised so far.Cross-stitch WIP: Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 11/25 Currently reading The Cliff House by Amanda Jennings6 -
Aw @twopenny - don't tantalise us, we need details and/or photos to properly admire your astute bargain spotting.
@Miró - very pretty dress and hooray for shirred waists, I'm sure you'll look glamorously dramatic swishing around in it.
@Coxy11 - I'm on the lookout for a replacement cup for my Whittard Tea for One set having stupidly cracked the original in a clumsy moment so I'm very envious of your perfect find. Fantastic amount you've raised on your hike, most impressive.
Here's my haul from the BHF shop this week for the grand total of £6. The clip-top jar isn't a Kilner but the 6 spare rubber seals in it are so I snapped it up because spares of those are always useful.
I'm now keeping a sharp eye out for the companion volume Japan: The Vegetarian Cookbook but since it was published in 2023 I may have to wait a while, fingers crossed.6 -

@DigForVictory is a much valued member of this thread whose posts I look out for and very much enjoy reading.
I'm planning a detour to two rather far flung charity shops today in an effort to find a stockpot suitable for a recipe needing a minimum of 4 litres of water as well as the various ingredients. I currently possess nothing between 4.5 and 10 litres so am hoping to snap up a 6 or 7 litre pot as being the perfect receptacle. It goes very much against the grain to buy a new pot for a recipe I may only make once so fingers crossed."She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."
