@goldfinches : I was thinking over the weekend about your comment that you were heading out to try and find a large stock pot - did you have any success?3

goldfinches said:@Magpie100 - nice lot of useful bits there, how did your new necklace go down?
@Miró - congratters on your 15 minutes of stardom, will the GC be needing to provide a limo? Lovely spot for the dummy and the silk top and I do hope "Daphne and Dennis" will settle down soon so that we can all watch their efforts.
@Rosa_Damascena - some lovely looking colours and patterns in your wardrobe so I'm sure your niece will enjoy a good fossick and try on session. Once you've made space there what will you be filling it with?
I bought this book because I felt I could use a few well turned insults and a Beach Boys cd to remind me what summer feels like! Forgot to say they were £2 each.
Then on my way home from relaxation and breathing class today I called in at a local hospice charity shop and fell for a silver gravy ladle, £3, John O'Farrell and Jan Morris hardbacks, £3 each, and an Australian Women's Weekly cookbook and 2 gluten free cookbooks for £2 each.
The Gluten-Free cookbooks are produced by a Coeliac Society branch based in Aberdeen so I expect that all the recipes will be ones that people have used and liked. The gravy ladle is something I've been looking for so I'm very pleased to have found it but not so happy that I'll have to get out the silver cleaner!

Took me ages to spot the gravy ladle - I thought it was part of the book cover pic!!
Today's trip to the 99p shop in Otley - bought an Oliver Bonas top, original price £49.50

@C_J - thankyou for asking about the stockpot search, the answer is nothing yet but I still have many shops to visit so my fingers are firmly crossed.
@Miró - sorry about the confusing photo, that hadn't occurred to me, I'll try to be more careful in future.
I haven't tried the silver foil method but did know about it because, oddly, it's mentioned in a Sue Grafton novel although I forget which one. Good to hear it really works and to have a helpful link, thankyou for that.
Lovely top there, such a nice, delicate and clear colour.
Has anyone else noticed that so many colours nowadays seem to have an undertone of grey or is it just me?3 -
@goldfinches - well done on the John O'Farrell find! Its been on my list for a while (well before my chazzer-starvation plan started in January). No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.4 -
@goldfinches - I have (what I always thought was) a large stockpot, but I measured it over the weekend and it only holds 4 litres. I can’t use it any more as it won’t work on my new induction hob, so I’d be very happy to donate it to you if you can use it. It might not be large enough for your needs but drop me a PM if you’re interested!3

I finally found a few things yesterday. I bought a blue dressy top and a lightweight pink Principles jumper so tops more suited for Spring weather. I also got a white pearly coloured cup which I didn't need but I like it and it was only 50p.2025 GOALS

@goldfinches the necklace was well-received given I was surrounded by glamorous 18-year-olds! I've worn it a few times this week; excellent spring colours.
@Miró lovely OB top; I always think they are very overpriced new, so good to pick up secondhand.
No charity shop fun yet for me this week; busy and sleep deprived (ddog has a bad tummy so up and down several times in the night with him) but I might pop to my regular 3 on Friday on my way to a haircut...6 -
@C_J - thankyou for your very kind offer which unfortunately isn't big enough! I'm planning to make Dishoom's house black dal from the second recipe on this page and it calls for at least 4 litres of water in addition to the 300g of urad dal which you then boil for two to three hours skimming as you go. All this because I had lunch at the new Dishoom branch here a few weeks ago and both my friend and I loved the dal and so I'm determined to try to recreate the dish. I'm still searching so watch this space!
In other news I've had an incredibly fraught and busy day during which I've managed to fit in two shop visits, the first this morning to my favourite BHF shop where I snapped up two Chance glass plates to add to my collection for £2.50 apiece. I've photographed them against a couple of non-stick oven trays to show their patterns.
Then this afternoon I dropped into the original Oxfam shop and snapped up this rather lovely jigsaw themed for my favourite colour, £4.99, and these cute little ice trays with lids, £1.49 each.
I also bought a birthday card for a friend from their display which cost 50p and the lovely volunteer rang me up a total of £8.47 which I stupidly didn't realise meant that she had omitted to charge for the third ice tray so I'll be more careful about checking everything has been included next time."She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."

On a short break away and managed to find a lovely navy M&S cardigan and an M&S short sleeved green jumper for £2 each on the sale rail in one shop and then discovered another cardigan in the everything £1 charity shop we stumbled upon. Very pleased6

Yesterday was absolutely gorgeous weather here and I went out for a long walk to enjoy it and admire the bursting buds on the magnolias among other things. Hope it was as nice where you all are too.
On the way back home I detoured for an ice cream and then couldn't resist stopping in to the Oxfam and Barnardo's branches I was passing (at least that's my excuse). I snapped up these books and dvd set which is the Swedish version rather than the Kenneth Branagh one.
The British Library reissue was £1 and the other books were all £2.49 while the 7 film dvd was £4.99.
No stockpot success yet but I still have lots of places to search so all is not lost."She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."
