@goldfinches the Dishoom Dahl is very easy to make (I am no great cook and can do it!) and absolutely delicious. It does take a while but absolutely worth it.
@Miró joining in with the chaise envy! It is GORGEOUS and I am so jealous I can hardly open my beak to type.
I found a nice blouse in Save the Children yesterday. Mint Velvet, b&w with a geometric art deco style (my favourite) pattern on it. My partner said I looked like an art deco peacock in it, which I assume is a good thing? £6.999 -
@Miró if I wasn't a denbyholic, I'd be forming an orderly queue with chaise longue envy & need I mention that Of Course your cat will have plans. Ahem, so may GC but I count on you to have the appropriate length of silk and at least one cocktail glass appropriate.
(Seems my imagination has Vigorous chaise envy...)9 -

So much to read, so little time.7 -
Chaise longue envy here too, although this home has no bay windows begging for one!
I did that 'right time, right place' thing today - I happened upon a BNIB Dab radio for £5.99 in the Children’s Society shop in the nearby posh "village". I also found a Bnwt pair of jeans & a very nice stripey Autograph top in Mind.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

chaise longue envy here too. £20 - what an incredible bargain! That might well be the find of the year for the list already.
(the sky blue loafers were lovely too) Multiple trips into local CS have yielded no great finds.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!7 -
Awwww…many thanks everyone for your comments on the chaise longue find. When I bought it, largely due to the price, I thought it was probably just from Wayfair or similar. The sheer weight of the thing should have been a clue tho! Twas only when I got it home and tipped it upside down to attach the legs that I saw the Laura Ashley label. Then after Googling it I was really shocked by the RRP!
@DigForVictory. Now catless since dear Albert snuffed it. Do you think a long cigarette holder would complete the picture?Really fancy giving the Dishoom Dahl a bash…. Just printed off the recipe ….blimey, it takes ages to make tho!Called into the Herriot Hospices shop in Thirsk yesterday and they had a sale rail….came away with an M & S sparkly/netty/beaded skirt for £4.9 -
@Miro, oooh yes a long cigarette holder or the martini glass. You’ve only 2 hands though so a side table for floral tributes, long gloves, whatever seems appropriate.I recall Albert appropriated a stunning velvet frock & thought of that draped over & then with cat in residence - I’m sure he’d approve the chaise longue too!
And for dress down Friday (ridiculous idea) borrow the frock from the “keep mum she’s not so dumb” poster girl?!5 -
@Miró - I'm joining the chorus of chaise longue envy, that is a truly epic find. I'm also very struck by the Beldray steamer thingy, just the job for charity shop purchases, you'll have no fear of moths now.
@C_J - I loved the Babar stories when I was small so I do envy you rereading them.
@Potternerd - those loafers do look very Riviera chic, perfect for spring.
@Brie - I wish you'd been able to put that house on the "Have a Look at This" thread so the rest of us could have an admire of the owner's housekeeping standards. I wonder if he was like my grandmother and brushed and combed his cat every morning.
@Magpie100 - thankyou for the Dishoom dahl reassurance, what size pot do you use to make yours in? I'm assuming that 4.5 litres is too small so am scouring the local charity shops for a 5, 6 or 7 litre stockpot or possibly a Maslin pan to use as buying a new pan just for one recipe that I may never repeat feels wrong to me.
Art Deco peacock sounds very intriguing, any chance of a photograph so that we can all see what your OH means?
@Rosa_Damascena - if you're ever tempted to go into the restaurant I can heartily recommend the Crispy Spinach Chaat, the Black Dahl Makhani and the bread. I'd meant to try one of their cocktails but I'd forgotten my reading glasses so couldn't decipher the small print details and ended up plumping for sparkling water instead.
@DigForVictory - "Vigorous Chaise Envy" sounds like one of those new syndromes in the Sunday papers to me but I do agree with the cocktail glass suggestion perhaps even a Uranium glass version with moody lighting.
@Floss - your DAB radio sounds like a steal, I'm also keeping an eye out for one for the kitchen shelf so I'm encouraged that donating them is now a "thing".
@Miró - I think Uranium cocktail glass, silk or velvet wrap and moody lighting but that's just my "Vigorous Chaise Envy" talking, you might prefer a side table with a vase of sweet peas, a long lacy wrap and feathery mules. Did I ever tell you about this wonderful site Ace of Shades? Looking forward to hearing your opinion of the Dishoom Dahl. The skirt is lovely too.
@DigForVictory - that poster is a hoot, thanks for reminding me to look at it.
I meant to spend this afternoon visiting a few more shops to see if I could find a suitable sized pot for the Dishoom Dahl but the sky was full of threatening clouds and the forecast said rain and thunder and lightning were imminent so I postponed my trip. Instead I spent some time deciding what could go into the donations bag to be dropped off tomorrow so that should make some space.

@goldfinches - have you checked eBay? A quick search for large stockpot came up with several for less than £15 - eg. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/353558451299?_skw=large+stock+pot&itmmeta=01JQ3FESYFE8SJX88A3JH1MWW1&hash=item5251b9d463%3Ag%3A2R0AAOSwPrlbeXNo&itmprp=enc%3AAQAKAAAA8FkggFvd1GGDu0w3yXCmi1cpWo2Ys%2BJJYXqvUOVP391MxTbiXZdcOV94qSGR2thV9fmvzg%2B3jpX1M3%2FTRVnUYZevZ%2FV4P8QnjwcIRG8%2Fv9Zgib72hfC7E2Bs6H5gZzLhixw5AmWvHqm31L2U59%2FWF%2Fsp1ZjC1FbGghHHeN%2BbBxhmQ2vRbkQvKDehnpdLE4TdUW1JNMWW9F0pIvE%2BfZWx%2FgKaL6QzmcMurDkPOfYpBFuJ2UwKfnUgkmg%2B9GErHWW1S%2Baew85KAeAZUE6Ogfs1u6bxH%2FQmA3%2FazQAkcDU3BpA%2B9fYXOhVLDCYTfu02sqdUxQ%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABFBM9KC777hl&var=622856446647
