A nice little haul from the poshest charity shop in my area. A BNWT White Stuff jumper which will go away now for next winter. Price label removed so I suspect it might be an unwanted Christmas gift! And a crossover bag in mint green by AnyDay, which is a JL/Waitrose brand - only £2.50. A pink Uniqlo shirt (£5.95 and needs an iron) to go over t-shirts and a nice beaded necklace which I intend to debut this weekend as I am out for lunch.5

oh - and the jumper was £9.95.3

Lovely morning at the first Bedale car boot sale of the year, loads of sellers and loads of buyers. Came away with a tailor's dummy thingy for £10, a pair of b/n M&S trousers for £2 and various old but good quality gardening tools. Then walking down the high street picked up a pure silk Patra top for £3.99 which goes well with aforementioned trousers😋

Miró said:Just found this Phase Eight dress in the Cat’s Protection shop in Headingley. It was In their sale and reduced from £12 to £5. Original price £90. Think the reason it had hung about and was reduced was cos it’s a size 8. As I am not I was intending to make it into a skirt but as the style is quite voluminous and it has an elasticated waist I can get into it….yay! (It’s a bit bright tho innit?)5

I saw that….was a bit of a surprise to see my pic pop up on there. I only read, don’t post.
Ermmmmm……..Daphne???? 😍😁 🥰. The pair seem to be checking out possible nest sites. Investigated the front flower beds, the lawn, garage, back beds, shed and compost heap so far!

I was in the West End yesterday and had a little time and did some window shopping. None of the clothes were even vaguely appealing to me, but it made me think of how many work dresses I no longer wear that are of better design and quality. Then I started to think that being classic rather than fashionable, maybe my niece might show some interest in years to come?
I opened up the double wardrobe today and counted them: it came to 54!!

I'm seeing a lot of gorgeous colours there, many of which could be styled to be less 'classic' @Rosa_Damascena (I still wear work dresses sometimes but now they double up as date night and out with the girls dresses with the addition of cowboy boots, a chucky belt, a jumper underneath and necklaces and unbuttoned in a very non work way and so on. I hope one day your niece gets to look and play. (My partner's mother died earlier in the year and her grand-daughter has taken a lot of the knitwear saying it is better quality than that she can afford to buy and is timeless. My partner was surprised his daughter wanted 'old ladies' clothes but I totally understood why.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!10 -
@Magpie100 - nice lot of useful bits there, how did your new necklace go down?
@Miró - congratters on your 15 minutes of stardom, will the GC be needing to provide a limo? Lovely spot for the dummy and the silk top and I do hope "Daphne and Dennis" will settle down soon so that we can all watch their efforts.
@Rosa_Damascena - some lovely looking colours and patterns in your wardrobe so I'm sure your niece will enjoy a good fossick and try on session. Once you've made space there what will you be filling it with?
I bought this book because I felt I could use a few well turned insults and a Beach Boys cd to remind me what summer feels like! Forgot to say they were £2 each.
Then on my way home from relaxation and breathing class today I called in at a local hospice charity shop and fell for a silver gravy ladle, £3, John O'Farrell and Jan Morris hardbacks, £3 each, and an Australian Women's Weekly cookbook and 2 gluten free cookbooks for £2 each.
The Gluten-Free cookbooks are produced by a Coeliac Society branch based in Aberdeen so I expect that all the recipes will be ones that people have used and liked. The gravy ladle is something I've been looking for so I'm very pleased to have found it but not so happy that I'll have to get out the silver cleaner!5
