bought approximately £850 worth of 1st and 2nd class stamps in 2011 just before 1st class jumped from 46p to 60p and 2nd class jumped from 36p to 50p.Slinky said:I splashed out on first class stamps hoping to get a fast turnaround, although they were bought years ago so would have been way under the current rate.
In hindsight, I should have just bought 1st class stamps.4 -

Do you send your application form to 'Regent House' address
Thanks.I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.0 -
It can go to any one of their branches and they'll open it in my experience. In fact in the past when I've requested application packs for their savings accounts they've sent me prepaid envelopes for their Sutton-in-Ashfield and Kirby-in-Ashfield branches.trickydicky14 said:Mansfield R.S

OTOH, applications for a RS at the Scottish BS (which gave rise to pages of comments here over their postal application service) can be processed in 30 minutes and include a cup of tea and a biscuit.Hattie627 said:
Living in Scotland, we have very limited access to branches of the English/Welsh building societies other than the big ones like Yorkshire, and then only in Glasgow/Edinburgh, so this particularly would affect those north of the border.1 -
Rate updatesI'm updating my list of RS with the latest rates to decide what to fund and what to trim next month, using the great list compiled by Bridlington :Apologies, if this has been mentioned and just in case it hasn't:Penrith BS R E-Saver 200 2 Year I1 remains at 5%A from 15/1/26Dudley BS Festive Regular Saver. It's fairly new and there is no indication of change from 5.5%A1

It would take me the bulk of the day to travel to any of the Mansfield BS branches by bus using my free bus pass, though less than an hour by car. I am not inclined to do either. Trying to simplify my accounts now so I will pass.0

Simplifying accounts is what I always try to do. On this occasion, Mansfield BS application form printed, completed, & posted with cheque on Friday last week with account opening today. Certainly not going to mess about with FREE postage etc as for me, it's a RS worth having.

…and the ESBS website page showing the new accounts from 2nd Feb has indeed been updated under the MonthlySaver section to have an extra line saying "branch applications only".

I reckon I should claim geographical locational discrimination (ROTFL) as all of these smaller Building Societies offering regular savers with no restrictions to the local area but for in-branch applications only are too far away from me to make it worthwhile the trip!

Application pack requested Thursday, received Saturday 1st Class. Returned in Response Paid 1st Class in yesterday's post and open today.
No 'messing about', but however much a stamp is nowadays very well saved (and probably just as quick as sending it on Thursday evening with a Second Class stamp would have been anyway).
