They can add extra standalone charge points between lampposts if required.

If that happens which I doubt you'd need 1 for each house without off street parking so who pays0

Not a question of liking. It's coming up with viable solutions to the complex problems and challenges that lie ahead.booneruk said:
I always find it amusing that not everyone sees the massive sense in weaning ourselves off fossil fuels (a finite resource) and onto the complete utilisation of electricity (where possible) that will eventually be almost completely met by renewable sources. I mean, what's not to like about that?0 -
The main issue is those who refuse to acknowledge that the change is required, because it does not suit their political preconceptions, or who exaggerate the challenges in order to try to paint the change as unfeasible.Hoenir said:

Minor lifestyle adjustments may be required. We can do this without too much hardship.
Think about the lifestyle changes in our lifetimes, and in those of our parents and grandparents. One of my grandfathers was born in the 19th century and died in the 1990s - think about how much changed over his lifespan, from Victorian times to the cusp of the internet age. The move to more sustainable energy, and using less energy more sensibly, are trivial compared to that.

If we stop using any oil we'll all be back living like victorians0

Average motorist drives 7400 miles = needs to charge their EV no more than once every ten days. 32% of households with a car don’t have a drive so 14 million cars. Just 10% of the 7.2 million street lamps in the UK fitted with 2 sockets on each would be more than enough.henry24 said:If that happens which I doubt you'd need 1 for each house without off street parking so who pays2 -
As has been commented on earlier you are thinking that all these households can always park outside their homes with a neighbour parked next to them where in real life you might not park outside your house for days0

Pot of yellow paint and a £400 million pound fine with automated disposal on the second offence if you’re not charging your EV there, job done. No need to thank me.henry24 said:As has been commented on earlier you are thinking that all these households can always park outside their homes with a neighbour parked next to them where in real life you might not park outside your house for days0 -
I wouldn't thank anyone for a comment like that, I only thank sensible comments0
