Sorry I got that wrong I have just looked and my internet is 5Ghz, the Octopus mini is working and has done for some time now.

Your WiFi may offer 5GHz, but must also support 2.4GHz (this is perfectly normal) otherwise the Octopus Mini absolutely could not work

Gas is generally the same - though gas is 2 days behind with the pink device

Which is the one that Octopus use for billing ?

Do you mean a Home Mini? They're the mutts. Means you can get real time consumption on your phone or PC, amongst other things.

Have had a Home Mini for a few months now. Not hugely impressed with it... You have to use the app to set it up, and unless you have geolocation enabled, you can't get the darned thing configured (had to fake geolocation on my tablet).

Data via the web site (on a PC) is at least a day behind, so hardly "real time". Via the app, it shows today's usage, but I dislike apps...

Same here - the only useful part of the home mini is it's live real time power consumption

But Gas is 2 days behind and electricity is 24 hours delayed !!

It does show that the normal IHD is not at all accurate in it's consumption estimate

Yes and no.  Usage information, yes.  Tariff information, depends (E7 for instance, sort of yes if the meter is using two different registers but still no for pricing) but generally no.

The usage is all that I am bothered with
Surely the tariff information is fixed and octopus know that already?

OK Update from Octopus..

Evidently - to use the pink MINI - I need the IHD decommissioned !!

"In order for the Home Mini to work properly, our smart metering team needs to decommission the In-Home Display (IHD) that’s currently attached to your property."

Does that sound likely ?
