There is no 2.2GHz band. The main chip inside an Octopus Home Mini is an ESP32 which can only ever operate at 2.4GHz.
Sorry I got that wrong I have just looked and my internet is 5Ghz, the Octopus mini is working and has done for some time now.FreeBear said:millie said:I was told by Octopus that it would not work because our internet was 2.4ghz it would only work on 2.2ghzSomeone there knows nothing about WiFi - 2.4GHz is the main frequency, the alternative if 5GHz. Your WiFi may offer 5GHz, but must also support 2.4GHz (this is perfectly normal) otherwise the Octopus Mini absolutely could not workmillie said:

Our pink device is showing totally different charges for electricity to the IHD - Less than half on some days...Gas is generally the same - though gas is 2 days behind with the pink deviceWhich is the one that Octopus use for billing ?

Do you mean a Home Mini? They're the mutts. Means you can get real time consumption on your phone or PC, amongst other things.MouldyOldDough said:Octopus are sending me a new upgraded "In home display unit" - arriving tomorrowWhat can this do - that a standard unit cannot do ?Have had a Home Mini for a few months now. Not hugely impressed with it... You have to use the app to set it up, and unless you have geolocation enabled, you can't get the darned thing configured (had to fake geolocation on my tablet).Data via the web site (on a PC) is at least a day behind, so hardly "real time". Via the app, it shows today's usage, but I dislike apps...Same here - the only useful part of the home mini is it's live real time power consumptionBut Gas is 2 days behind and electricity is 24 hours delayed !!It does show that the normal IHD is not at all accurate in it's consumption estimate

Yes and no. Usage information, yes. Tariff information, depends (E7 for instance, sort of yes if the meter is using two different registers but still no for pricing) but generally no.MouldyOldDough said:debitcardmayhem said:

Surely the tariff information is fixed and octopus know that already?

OK Update from Octopus..Evidently - to use the pink MINI - I need the IHD decommissioned !!"In order for the Home Mini to work properly, our smart metering team needs to decommission the In-Home Display (IHD) that’s currently attached to your property."Does that sound likely ?
