Over ones lifetime we use banks and it costs us ...they do not work for nothing .
They do offer incentives if your bothered .
With Halifax you can claw £15 back a month or more if you have multiple legacy reward accounts so thats all good.
Over 15 years aprox I am somewhere around £4000 up just with Halifax but banks have cost me more than that .
Its change down the back of the sofa for banks .0 -

Banks are just another monthly cost or just another another bill if you like .
They make money out of you and your money ....over your lifetime .
Hence reducing your monthly bank costs via Halifax rewards is a good idea even if it is only a smaller amount vs what you pay over your lifetime
Pity the fiver hasnt gone up in 15 years like everything else.
(The £5 reward was actually reduced for a period of time but then went back up to £5)0 -

Across the board the banks make money. However some people (mainly those on here) make money out of them, whilst others who are always in debt & live in their overdraft pay a fortune. It's a numbers game for the banks in that if they entice people with free money, they'll cream off fees for more people than the people who cost them money so are up overall. But that doesn't mean those who play the system are still being charged as they're not.
Another way they make money out of your money is when lazy people keep too much money in their current accounts earning zero interest. And it's mainly older folk who refuse to use online banks. I keep very little of my net cash in banks (I say net as the cash I have in banks largely offsets 0% debt).

Question for anyone whose tracker failed in Feb. Did everyone get they fiver as normal?
thx0 -
My Jan payments arrived late, but they all arrived in the end. If you haven't received yours it might be worth putting in a complaint and ask Halifax to investigate. Based on my experience with my missing Dec payment, I'd jump straight to putting in a complaint rather than phoning/live chatting customer support as when I did their "solution" was basically to wait and hope something happens (which unsuprisingly didn't work).0

The tracker is back on track!
This month, I got green ticks as soon as the pending status of my £500 deposits had cleared.1 -

I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.0 -
