    Good Evening All

Natzini - hope the wedding goes ok! How lovely that they're able to do the online streaming thingy!

    Still going through the washing
Dinner all done, and pots dealt with, even made a trifle for pudding, plenty of lamb left over for another dinner tmorrow.

Took DS to get his bike sorted AGAIN. Despite it being done on Sunday, he's gained another puncture, what annoyed me is that they failed to see his tyre is as bald as his dad, and surley needed replacing to avoid another puncture? Anyway, £15 later - its done (but DS used some of his Christmas money to pay for it)

OH tidied the shed out, we found a stepper, we forgot we had, so Ive been hopping on it every so often.

Listed a few things on ebay! Now Im off for a bath, sadly Im back at work tomorrow.

    Take care
    Love Emma xxx

  • Just popped on to say to tru that I saw a "celebrity" florist on tv recently and he advised spreading the burst mistletoe berries on the underside of the branches as the birds will eat them if spread on the top or sides. HTH.

anniestar I AM RESTING NOW!!!! :D DS helped me finish the painting today. Still feel rubbish though so not sure that I will be going into the office tomorrow. See how much sleep I get tonight. Would you mind if I pm'd you for your news??

Nelski that sounds like a fabulous wedding! Cook some chips and you can have them with your feet for tea. :D;)
Natzini how great that you can watch the wedding online. Certainly cheaper than flying out there.
Churchmouse I have made two loaves in my new Panny. Both were fabulous and I have no intention of giving Morrisons £1.20 for a loaf ever again.

I know that lots of other bits of news have been posted today but my feeble brain is mush at the mo. ((((hugs)))) to those who need one and Congratulations to those with something to celebrate. xx

    Happy New Year! :D

Wow this is a long one today, took me ages to read it!

Big hugs to anyone still feeling poorly or with poorly family members.

dlb Has any of your Littlewoods stuff arrived yet? I couldn't believe it yesterday morning when the doorbell rang at 8am and a lovely man stood at the door with most of my order, I'd only ordered the stuff on Friday! I was made up with the clothes and I'm only going to send back 2 things, I'm just waiting for 3 more things to be delivered. Thanks again for that great tip!:T

We had a lovely day yesterday...after my early delivery we all went into town as we needed to buy some school shoes for the girls and managed to get then both new shoes in the Clarkes' sale for only £26! We usually pay more than that for just one pair. :D We treated the girls to a burger for their lunch and bought a couple of DVDs which we watched last night.

In the early evening we went down to the river to set off the remaining fireworks (too big for our tiny garden) and then came home to eat hm pizza and pull the last of the xmas crackers. The girls stayed up till midnight and we set off our party poppers all over the front garden (DH did a massive tidy up out there this afternoon). :rotfl:

We all had a lie-in (again) this morning and then I gave the kitchen a good clean, put the wm and td on, did the ironing (again) and made a big pan of chilli and some corn bread for tonight's tea.

My goals for 2008 are to continue to be frugal, old-style, healthy, happy and positive. :D
DH will be 50 and I will be 40  this year so we're going to Australia for 4 weeks in July/August to stay with my brother and his family. We also need to sort out the girl's bedrooms and we're going to decorate and put a new wooden floor down in the front room and (finally) get 2 new couches. So we need to continue to be as frugal as we can.

I'm also going to try to not be as busy as I usually am, as sometimes I take on too much, don't say no and then get myself all worked up, or exhaust myself.
Oh yeah, one more...lose some weight. :rotfl:

Hi everyone. Well I've had a good start to new year-I have sold about £20 stuff on ebay!!! and it's only the 1st. Not sure what I should be funding out of ebay sales. We are getting married in a few months (not organised anything specific yet though!!!) and we have loads of other projects-i.e. paying mortgage off etc. So will have to have a think. I've heard weddings cost over £11,000 but we need to do it for £2,000 max (if possible) and I haven't even got a dress yet-(never been married before-as you can probably tell). So any advice , etc etc most appreciated-thanks in anticipation.

    Hi everyone!
Happy New Year and good luck with all the resolutions. I don't make specific ones as I fall at the first hurdle but I have got some bits that I want to gradually chip away at until I see an improvement.
Quietish day today. Spent the morning at home doing lots of little jobs and have now sorted out the recycling and a big box of bits which the small person has decluttered. I've recycled as much as possible, offered a few bits on freecycle [I've posted that many emails on there this week the local group must be heartily sick of me:D ] and sorted out a load for the jumble sale that's coming up. Also cleaned the bathroom and put the clean washing away.
We enjoyed a family walk at lunchtime [the small person was pinging off the walls by then] and caught up with the local morrismen "performing" [well leaping around and howling with laughter. I supsect that they may have the odd small sweet sherry or three!!] at the local hostelry.
Always good to see though and I find the music never fails to cheer me up no end it's so jolly!
OH is very chuffed because he's just been the lucky recipient of a new bicycle pump off freecycle...we take pleasure from very small but kind acts in this household.
Tea was chilli [made from reduced mince at Tesco that I dug out from the freezer] and tortilla chips.
Back to work tomorrow....kind of dreading it although shall be fine once I get back. I'm always like this after Christmas...I enjoy being with my family on holiday so much but fortunately I generally enjoy my job.
Have a good evening...I'm off to watch 3 men in yet another boat.

Hi all - just popping in to say I hope everyone has had a good day. Not feeling too good just at the moment; have had a bath and will settle down to a bit of telly and an early night.

(((hugs))) to all those in need, especially the poorly ones, and hope to join you all again tomorrow - with any luck I may be feeling significantly better by then!

    Hi everyone.
I've posted for the first time today, signing up for the grocery challenge at a rather ambitious £25 pw in Jan - for 2 adults and 2 fast-growing boys. We have full cupboards and I picked up some half-price meat for the freezer on Dec 28th so I'm hoping it won't be too bad - although dh and 2xds will have to wait to see what the spend is by Friday before I commit to splashing out on their favourite sausages from the local farm shop for weekend breakfasts.

I've been surfing the forum ever since, resolving to buy a Panasonic breadmaker from Amazon for dh's birthday, spurred on to count up all my vouchers etc and keen to start comping. You're an inspirational lot!

I'd been studying for 18 months til starting in my dream job last year - only my dream fast started to feel as though it was destroying me and my family, so I rather drastically resigned finishing at Christmas. I don't know what I'm going to do now but financially I have to work and earn money this month and from hereon in, as well as making major economies. Twin sons' birthday this month and another 18 birthdays on our list, including dh and 3 more close family, in the next couple of months. I might finally try to sell on ebay, in between trying to find a job!

I'm looking forward to picking up lots of tips and maybe even to sharing some too.

Happy new year to one and all!
