Happy Birthday to Mr Penguin too !!!0 -
This will be the third time I have tried to post, keeps locking me out!!!
Morning all.............((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))) if you need one..............
HAPPY NEW YEAR
We went to bed just after 11pm and read until the fireworks stopped, or so we though, then there was a huge bang in the street and something hit our bedroom window, my god, frightened me to death.................there is a black burn mark on the window, but we could not see anyone in the street!!!!!!!!!!!! OH reported it, but there is nothing else we can do really.
OH slept ok after all the excitement, no coughing, but this morning is complaining about his leg..........thank God he has an appointment at the Doctors, not that it will do much, he will still moan............right hypercondriac.......drives me potty at times, have to get mad and shout a bit, then he decides he is better!!!!!!!!!!!GGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRR.
Nothing really planned for today except a walk round the district which I find terminally boring........but I do need the exercise, especially as we cannot do any work on the allotment just now.
I hope 2008 is a less stressful year than 2007, after all the hassle with Awful Step Son and having to move from a house I loved, and sell off things that we had worked long and hard to afford, this year CAN only be better. The two bright points were getting the attendance allowence for OH and the grant towards removal costs from the Benevolent Fund. That has helped our finances a great deal, by emptying the emergency fund we were able to cut our OD in half and hopefully will have cleared it by the late spring............at least enough to take us out of having to pay interest.
The next thing will be to save for our trip to the US. Its one we both really want to make before either of us is a) to old and b) before the passports run out. I need to save around £2500 by this time next year.
Time to gosky, I have been trying to phone my friend, she asked me to go over to Dunelm to get her some duvet sets, I have just phoned them and they do not think they will have any before Thursday, and not sure even then........they have been discontinued apparently. Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -

hugs to all who need them and hope you all have a great day0 -
Happy New Year everyone!
We had a lovely quiet night in last night, just DH and myself. I cooked up a big curry feast with paneer, chickpeas and aubergine dishes, all with a gorgeous saffron pilaf. Managed not to fall asleep before midnight!
Today is going to be a duvet day - got to make bread for sandwiches but that's it.
2008 is going to be the year of the big save - we made a great start last year but this year we have no other plans for our money other than to make our house deposit as big as possible!
May you end 2008 thinner (well, we can all dream!), richer and happier:beer:0 -
A GUID NEW YEAR TO ONE AND ALL
Good morning everyone - 2007 has been a year of trials, successes and afraid to say, some failures.
Financially, it has been a good year - by visiting this site daily and becoming more and more OS I have succeeded in paying off my mortgage 7 years early. A great success :j
Workwise has been more of a trial- I have worked in the same job for many years but am becoming more and more disallusioned by it. As I no longer have to worry about a mortgage, I may begin looking for a new job this year. Very scary indeed !!!
Failures ( or rather things that are not successes YET) have all been relationship problems with close family members. I am still working on these and hope by next New Year these will be resolved.
As I have mentioned on previous posts my Dad is ill with Emphysema. He has suffered from this for several years and has always bounced back. But this year he had a bad infection in August and has not bounced back. I visited my Mum and Dad for the bells at midnight last night, it was really nice - a memory to treasure
Back to mundane matters - for dinner we are having hm steak pie, very traditional in Scotland. Starters is a new recipe I am trying ; a large mushroom topped with a slice of black pudding and served with salad sprinkled with spicy sauce. Hope it taste as good as it sounds !!!
Dessert with be a hm Black Forest style gateau.
Have a great day everyone and best wishes for a happy, healthy and prosperous 2008.

Happy New Year!
Didn't get to bed until gone 3am ( don't ask:rotfl: ) so didn't get up until gone 10 am:eek: Terrible I know, but I don't care:p
The tree is down, along with everything bar the Christmas cards, so the big clean up is about to start:D Well after I've had another coffee;)
Happy Birthday, Mr Penguin:beer: (not sure which you'll need less, cake or beer;) )
Penny-Pincher! Are you still on holiday? If so, please be careful *borrowing* someone else's wireless connection. I knew it was *immoral* but I find out now it's actually illegal, a criminal offence:eek: In fact there's a thread about it on one of the other boards. Would hate for you to get a visit from the boys in blue. Starbucks and the like often offer free wireless connection, while you make a coffee last a very long time. Can you tell I've had student sons:D
Well must get on, I want to get back to my Christmas books and craft projects. Damn housework, getting in the way:rotfl:
Enjoy your days, and lovely to see so many *occasional* posters today. :T Hope to see a lot more of you:D
CM xxYou never get a second chance to make a first impression.0
