I bought myself a soup maker recently @dizzyblnd but haven't really got to grips with it yet. I will have another go tomorrow as I want to make mushroom soup.NSD #3 for me today, though I did go out to pick up something that I bought yesterday.I solved a small household problem at zero cost - I was annoyed with all the bottles of oil, vinegar, cooking wine etc on the larder floor. I had tried to put them in a plastic basket thing, but it was too bendy and wouldn't hold all the bottles in any case, so after a bit of thought I found the ideal thing in a wooden bottle carrier thing that was lurking in my shop stash. I think it was originally meant to hold 6 or 8 wine bottles. So NO to bottles all over the larder floor, and it is easy to lift the whole thing out when I need to, instead of grubbing about at the back of the larder floorI listed loads of old costume jewellery on eb*y this morning, so hopefully at least some of that will be leaving the house. Also did a bit in the garden - a visiting squirrel has been digging around in the large pot one of my clematis is in, so I tidied it up and put some old tiles left over from when we had our roof done around it, to discourage further digging. Got rid of dead rhubarb leaves while I was at it, watered the chrysanthemum which is flowering nicely, and planted a large strawberry plant in a gap in one of my forest garden borders. And I paid my tax bill last night to avoid spoiling an NSD for todayBut said NO to the ironing and downstairs hoovering (though I will have to do it tomorrow).Grateful that I finally stopped putting off paying the tax bill, and for a tidy larder floor

I love a soup maker @dizzyblnd!
Day 2 no-spend went out the window thanks to a vital purchase: chewing gum! Both OH and DS were suffering from serious withdrawal after three whole days without it! But there was a silver lining—while I was at TeZco, a very generous staff member handed me a bunch of tokens for my gum haul. I’m certain I got more tokens than I deserved for my four tubs, but who am I to argue? Every token went straight to voting for DS’s school for a bit of community funding! The gum tubs were also price matched with Aldee so another wee bonus there.
Tonight, I attended the Parent Council meeting, which (no surprises here) was mostly about upcoming “Sproutmas” festivities. Sadly, I had to apologise for not being able to volunteer as an elf at this year’s festive fair —I’ll be at a charity comedy night instead.
Grateful today for ticking things off the list at work, helping Mum find some great deals on presents, OH taking care of dinner, getting the inside scoop on school plans, and of course, the lovely lady at Tesco for her extra-generous token handout!

Hi all, I am on NSD #2. Been feeling not good, but I did get out for my walks yesterday and today, and made food. Had a spend day today, yesterday was unexpectedly spend free - my friend bought me lunch when we were out walking.
I am grateful for seeing two waterfalls on my walk yesterday, cooking myself good food, and seeing some university colleagues online.

Oooh, turrón. So so yummy. Good luck not eating it early, Shrewbie!Today I am grateful for Pip's SENCo and form tutor, for a fab sesh at the gym, for settling down to do paperwork that I've been putting off, for Pip still wanting to tell me all about his day (helps him to process it too), for the smell of freshly mown grass.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!8

Was thinking it could be move-ember too. I've not been moving about as much as I should, due to my evening seeing jobs bring quite sedentary. Must think of ways to incorporate more movement into my days!
Felt quite stressed by lunchtime today. The other support staff member in our classroom doesn't pull her weight, so most of the morning I was doing my job & hers! There were other things on top of this before lunchtime too 🤯 I wish something would get sorted out! I'll have to start saying no! Thankfully the afternoon was better.
Arrived home to the delicious smell of our sproutmas cakes bring made. DS1 had fetched my mum from town & they'd set to. The second cake finally came out of the oven an hour ago. I sat sewing after tea, whilst the baker's watched TV, then DS took mum back home. Knitted a couple more (long) rows of a sproutmas present.
Grateful for the smell of the cakes baking, a dry day, a nice message from the teacher thanking me for all I doUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

A more spendy day than I had hoped for, thanks to forgetting to ask for a receipt for the latte I should have claimed on expenses. I’ll put it through as unreceipted and await the no payment without receipts email. I said “no” to cake.
I shouid have said “no” to son returning from his Dad’s house after spending just one hour there. I did say “no” to the foul language he was using about his brief stay.MBNA 237.47/13997.47

Still on NSD 2. It didn’t really depend on me as I was asked to get bread. Should have said “no” as this meant a trip to L1dl, risking the further growth of the turrón stash......I did browse but managed to resist, came away with just bread and kiwis, so a small spend. I am going to make an effort not to spend Fri through to Mon. Should be possible as I have a plan......
No exercise done today as I forgot my gym gear and as the bus only comes once an hour I couldn’t risk going back home to get it.
I am jealous of your cake @Thrifty_Taylor
I am really really looking forward to all the Sproutmas day goodies back home!

Spent money yesterday (£17) as I was ill and worried I'd feel worse today (I do) and wanted a few extra bits to go with food I already had in and books to read. Tried to go out at lunchtime but ended up standing clinging to the stair rail, shouting upstairs asking DS3 to order food for me as I was shaking and wobbly.
Did get out in the last hour before the shops closed, took books back to the library and picked up 4 from the withdrawn pile (took 2 back that I hadn't finished because I've been struggling with the small print for the last week). Carried on and did a small shop and when I got back home my knees and ankles went on strike. Did put a wash load on and baled out two buckets from the sink plus some bits to the bin. New next door neighbour and her sister swept up a load of leaves and I gave them my green bin to put them in. The sister asked could she put my lengths of wood against the wall in the corner of the back (I agreed, I wanted to do it but have not managed it).
Been waiting for my pills to be delivered - so ill, the man had got back in his car (but thankfully not driven off) before I got to the door. Today's culinary masterpiece was toast (might be more later - changed to mashed potato and veggie meatballs, still trying to empty the freezer).
I am extremely grateful for a podcast I watched on Sunday between Minimalist Mom and a women who blogs about chronic illness. I felt so vindicated. Bed making was mentioned, the chronic illness woman said bed making might not be the most important thing to do, especially on low energy days. She mentioned food for your family, washing up so your have plates to eat off and clean clothes. On combining 'minimalism' and chronic illness (or clashes), she recommended minimum number of plates etc but perhaps having a pack of a hundred paper plates in the cupboard for days when everything was falling apart.
The chronic illness tips are also useful for anyone caring for a sick relative and temporary incapacity (broken ankle etc).
I'm grateful for the lovely man who knocked on the door and asked if he could read my gas and electric meters - I said he could try. I gave him permission to shuffle alongside the sofa or climb over it if necessary. Anyway he fought his way to both meters and took the readings.
Also grateful for pill deliveries and helpful neighbours.
I think I've been stalled since failing to offload the stuff I wanted to be collected (3 cs fails). I'm thinking of going for a paid Council collection or waste watchers. I'm having a skip when my builders start but there's so much stuff in the way I cannot easily get to things I want removing. The kitchen is a mess for many reasons but my baling out of the sink is messy - bucket fell over this morning. May sit and cut up a pile of rags. It's also bin day and I'm getting less discriminating about sorting stuff and may just fill a couple of bin bags with anything I can find.
