I started off well with my first NSD yesterday. Was continuing on the right track until this evening when housemate suggested we go to the garden centre and lured me with the idea of looking at that-day-that-shall-not-be-named decorations. I am ashamed to say I did not say "no" to this outing, and I DID spend money. However it was all within budget so I am not going to beat myself up. Spent 8.80 on a basil plant, two tiny succulents and a mushroom bauble. Housemate got a set of cocktail glasses in the shape of baubles with candy straws. None of it technically necessary but bloody festive.... too early!!!Tomorrow I will go for NSD 2 and continue (actually saying no this time)
If you are still deciding what you should say "yes" to this month, here's a handy flowchart from Sarah Knight's book called "The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F**ck" (sorry if the swearing offends anyone) in the idea that our energy is finite, and therefore we should have a "f**ck budget", aka a list of things we actually care about, much like a financial budget. The garden centre brought me happiness, and i think that cardi brings @beanielou happiness.....

NSD 2 for me todaySpent the morning batch cooking. I made shepherds pie base (the meaty/ veg / lentil bit that fits under the mashed potato), a big pan of chilli and 2 banana and chocolate cakes to use up brown bananas that we brought back from our holiday. I also tried out the soup maker that I bought myself for my birthday (end of last month). It worked well, but I wasn't impressed with the soup recipe, so shan't be doing that one again. It was sweet potato and coconut, and was very bland. Maybe with more spicing it would be ok.DD2 and little ones came round before swimming lessons to eat half of the larger cake, and I gave them the smaller one to take home with themI listed a few items on ebay.I still haven't logged on and paid my tax billThough I did check the banksI also haven't done the ironingOr checked and watered the houseplants (I have a lot...).OH still has a cold. I don't have it yet, but the way he is coughing and sneezing it can only be a matter of time.Meat free dinner tonight. We had pasta with home made pesto from the freezer.Tomorrow won't be a NSD as OH has nearly run out of teabags. I don't drink tea, but would hate to run out of coffee! We really need to do a proper shop, but roadworks and awful traffic between here and the supermarkets are putting me off.And @beanielou, if the cardigan will bring you joy, as well as keep you warm, you really should buy it11

Today I am grateful for having spent a few days with extended family and friends, for a very smooth journey back home, for fajitas for tea, for Pip talking to me about things, for currently not having too busy a month ahead of me...

@beanielou go for the jumper if it is within your budget and will bring you much joy.
@dizzyblnd @f0xh0les @ladybird1106 well done on saying No!
Today was spent sorting out my craft stash, with the intention of selling most of it. OH bought me coffee after a lovely walk along the seafront..he offered to pay so I'm afraid I forgot to say No
@ldee2111 I love the chart thank you for posting it! I definitely have a limit

That is such a good flow chart @Shrewbie! Thank you.
I have been a bit under the weather today...for sure ate something that my system didn't like. I really think it's the nightshade family, but previously I thought I was gluten intolerant but it was dairy. I have had a problem with aubergines for age, tomatoes, peppers, and potatoes may have to go, but i am actually jumping the gun.
NSD#1 today.
Got out for a walk and foraged some teasels, seedheads, dried dock seed, and reeds, I have made a very tall arrangement in my big vase, it's on the dining room table.
Grateful for my new arrangement and its height! Getting out for a walk, and Strictly.3-month emergency fund (Cash ISA & PBs): £4744/ £6,000

Sunday salutations turtles.
NSD 1 in the bag! I’m claiming it now because there is no plan to go anywhere or spend anything today.
This morning I listed on V!ntD some of the items in my “sell” bag, which I started sorting yesterday in the declutter of my wardrobe.
I’m trying a new approach to housecleaning. Instead of trying to do it all in one go and then feeling done in, I’m focusing on a specific room or area each day, and saying NO to the rest! Of course, some areas, like the kitchen, need daily attention, but cobweb in the corner you will just have to wait until ‘ceiling corners day’! 🤣Today’s target was my least favourite: the bathroom because I live with two males who don’t seem to be able to hit the target when it comes to toilets!
Talking of toilet activities, DS wet the bed for the third night in a row, so in addition to our usual daily laundry pile, I’ve been washing a set of bedding every day for the last three days. Not ideal now that it’s autumn and we’re mostly drying indoors! I’ll give DS an invoice for all the extra gas and electricity once he gets his first job. He can pay it off in instalments, as it’s likely to be a hefty bill!
I’ve also set up a little savings account for myself. I realised I wasn’t sure where my “pocket money” went each month, except for £6 on my mobile contract. So today I’ve put £25 into this account, which I’ll do each month. I’ll use it for personal treats like clothes (you have my vote for the cardigan @beanielou!), getting a massage, or even indulging in a big tub of Roses chocolates that I will hammer through in the hour that DS and OH are at football training!
Grateful today for getting jobs done around the house, for OH making me lunch, for some interest in my V!ntD listings already, for hearing DS sing away to himself which tells me he is happy and relaxed (and that he is not disturbed at all at his Mum having to wash his bedsheets for a third day in a row!🤣)
I realise this was quite an early-in-the-day update but jobs are done and I’m just going to enjoy the rest of my day before the work week begins.
❤️ to you all

Still on NSD 2 - today wasn't one as I needed to go shopping and couldn't put it off any longer! Quite a big shop as I only bought a few odd bits last week. We were away, and took a lot of food with us.I have also hoovered the middle floor and cleaned the main bathroomAlso swept and washed the kitchen floor, and hoovered the mats in the conservatory.I have checked all the houseplants and watered the ones that needed it.I have done a load of washing that OH has pegged outside. It is such a murky sort of day though, so I doubt it will dry out there.I have listed some unwanted costume jewellery on eb*y. I have run out of steam for now though, and there is loads more on the table. It is so tedious to do.I still haven't paid my tax bill, but the night is youngI am now saying NO to any more housework today8

Hi turtles, I'm checking in early as I'm planning to say NO to all types of screens 2 hours before bedtime today.
Reporting NSD 2! (early but I think I'm safe today)
Exercise done. I'm still exploring the area as i've only lived here since August. To me it's "proper" countryside (about 25km east of Madrid). Walked a new route along a stream near the house and spotted loads of different types of mushrooms and lizards and what I think is evidence of wild boarsthought the route was circular but it wasn't, so ended up jogging home to make up time (up a hill) so nice bit of exercise there.
Got 3-4 hours of studying done in the morning without being disturbed or having to say "no" to anyone. So I'm happy with that.
Realised some other things i'm saying "no" to:
- texting back immediately (or even soon)
- ironing
- accompanying housemates to any shop that isn't a garden centre
Forgot I'm saying "yes" to gratitude.... Grateful for seeing light aircraft fly over the house this morning while I sat on the terrace with my coffee, for my mushroom finds (apparently this means I have a mushroom fetish), for deep fried eggy bread (what is that called?!) for a nice chat with my Dad over video call.Student loan £5655
