Sticking to NSD1! Today, I was working in the city centre office, so I thought I’d make the most of it and grab a gift for one of DS’s friends, who has a birthday party coming up.
OH is working late in another city centre tonight, so here I am, sitting in my car watching DS kick a ball around on a cold outdoor football pitch, surrounded by some fireworks going off around me. I’ll be honest, I’m not as ‘enthusiastic’ about football training as OH—I’m all for supporting DS, but you won’t catch me standing out in the wind, rain, or hurricane to watch every little toe tap!
Gratitudes today: managed to get loads done in the office (though I do find being around people a bit draining), chip butties for dinner, picking out a (hopefully!) nice gift for DS’s friend (with a gift receipt included, just in case), and getting to enjoy some fireworks from the warmth of the car.

I hope your builders soon come @grandmanerd and sort out your house so that you can live comfortably. You deserve it.No NSD for me today as the car had its service and MOT, and the brake pads needed replacing, so a big spend dayHad to be done though, and nothing else spent anyway!Today I did the ironing and mended OH's trousersAlso made a cake. I have decided to go through my recipe book, (not a proper cookbook, just the notebook where I have copied down lots of recipes and cut out and stuck others in) and make things that looked a good idea when I first saw them but I have never actually tried. The idea is to end up with just things I actually make. First effort today was a chocolate beetroot cake. Nicer than it sounds, but I don't think I would bother to make it again, so out with that one.I think I will tackle my proper cookbook collection next. There are some there that I never use. They can go on eb*y too, and I really must stop buying any more, as I have quite enough!I said NO to downstairs hoovering (again). Must do it tomorrow. OH is going out in the morning and it is easier without him wandering in and out from his workshop all covered in wood shavings and sawdust
In fairness, he usually does it, but has man flu at the moment so can't possibly.
I also said NO to some kitchen bits and pieces that don't get used. I removed a shelf from one of my cupboards so that my old Magimix will fit. I will put the unwanted bits out on the garden wall tomorrow morning for people to take. I would never put items out on the street, but these will be in a box on my own wall. People usually take what is left out with a 'help yourself' signOne of my eb*y items has a bid and another has an offer, so it looks as though at least some of the stuff I have listed will be leaving the house9 -

My alarm went off an hour later than I'd wanted, so a mad rush to get DS3 up for his bus & me ready for work! Made it though. Phew!
A slightly better day at work. Left promptly, as had a massage booked (paid for from my sewing money, so I don't count it as a spend!). After tea, I swapped over my summer/winter clothes. A few things ready for donation too.
Grateful for DS1 having his drs appointment & getting some medication to try, a better day, the pile of things at the bottom of my bed being smaller 😀
Get well soon poorlies, hope you manage to rest tonightUse it up, wear it out

NSD #2 today.
Thankful for lovely messages from friends, plans being made for trip booked this weekend and interesting ideas to ponder from reading diaries on MSE.
Today was a quiet one as not feeling great. Tomorrow will be busier as have some financial admin to do, medication being delivered and would like to go and pick up some library books that I’ve reserved to take away with me this weekend. Hoping for another NSD but not sure whether I might have to pay for something for trip this weekend, will need to see what happens.
Sending hugs to all who would like or need one.9 -
Started the review of recipe books yesterday. Unfortunately (or is it fortunately? 🤔) I’ve realised that now I am veggie rather than vegan some of these books are veggie and vegan ones rather than straight vegan, so I have slowed down a bit to look at them a bit more closely for new recipes I might try.It makes me smile that others are reviewing recipe books / saved recipes as well 😊
Very sore after yesterday log stacking efforts and physio the day before so am going to be gentle on myself today. Just some yoga and a walk will be my physical limit today! 😊

ALLOTMENT
Not been feeling too well for the past few days, so haven’t been able to get there this week
NSDs
03.11.24 – Still 1/15. I was doing really well, but realised I needed to get some milk (£1.45) and I saw a discounted spider plant (£3.19). So a LOW SD, but not a NO SD.
04.11.24 – 2/15 Changed breakdown service (I did have to pay, but the cost’s more than covered by the refund, so counting it!)
05.11.24 – Still 2/15 and probably won’t change for a day or two, due to monthly stock-ups at SM and Costco.
A budget is like a speed sign - a LIMIT not a TARGET!!
CHALLENGES
2025 Declutter:
1 CONTAINER (box/bag/folder etc) per day; 50/365
1 FROG (minimum) per week; 6/52
WEIGHT I'll start with 25 lbs (though I need to lose more!) and see how it goes...🤔 0/25
2025 NSDs: 15 per MONTH - FEB 4/15; JAN 21/15
2025 Fashion on the Ration: (carried over from 2024) 10+66 = 76
2025 Make Do, Mend & Minimise No target, just remember to report!

@grandmanerd hope you feel better soon!
I am on NSD 3 finally. I will need to spend tomorrow. Made a batch of rice to bulk out my lentil/aubergine bake and keep it going for lunches for a couple more days. As I finish work at 8pm I've been eating dinner at work (sad life) so need to take enough food to work for two meals per day. Hopefully this is a temporary thing while I'm living out in the sticks.
