How much heating have YOU used in October?

It's difficult to make comparisons. One person in a well insulated bungalow south west - but the insulation keeps the sun from warming the walls but I get a lot of sun all day when it's out and that warms the inside daytime by shining through the large DG windows and patio doors.Yes more people in a space makes it warmer, body heat and moving room heat around. Also I have some pain so heating is a must when I can't move around. Need to heat water for a relieving bath. But on the whole so far the actual CH has only had a few bursts of hour. Electric fire and bathroom heaters just a quick burst to warm up so fingers crossed it's not too much.I don't read the meter, I use what I need at my age. Spent much of my youth living without heating to save money and enough is enough.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Think we put the heating on once this month for about 30 minutes to check the system was working ok. Apart from that its been too mild to worry about , if it got at all chilly in the evenings we just use a fleecy throw to put over our legs

NW 3 bed detached - GCH / water underfloor heating.344kwh this last month of gas - 221kwh of that is DHW and cooking.the GCH is set to come on one hour in the morning until the thermostat in the lounge reaches 18 degrees. Most mornings it has only been on for 10-20 minutes so farWe have a multiburner which has been used every evening since 2nd week of October.Once it gets properly cold we will start having the GCH/underfloor on more but with using the multiburner of an evening we don’t tend to have the heating on more than 2-3hrs per day even when it gets very cold.
Edit to add: we have solar panels so have been taking advantage of the sunny days to power an electric convection heater which has supplemented heating in the house

Personally I have not used the heating at all in October and with the current forecast I am unlikely to. However I am a fit and healthy adult, I tend not to feel the cold, I am not at home during the day and I live in a well insulated property. Trying to make comparisons is at best pointless and in a worst case scenario causes people to cut back because they feel they are using too much, even when they are not.
They key is to heat to one's needs, maintain a healthy temperature, when that is not possible due to financial constraints then use the "heat the human, not the home" method.

I'm at the other end of the scale to you and start having health issues when the inside daytime temperature drops below 18C and need the temperature to be 21C for comfort if I'm sitting down watching TV or reading - a fair bit higher than most of the posts here.

@mmmmikey we normally heat the rooms we live in to 16 or 17 during the day and 15 at night. The heating has been on for the whole month but given the outside temperature the radiators have not got warmer than tepid. It’s been 18 degrees inside which has felt warm to me but I nearly always have a fleece top and jumper over the top so I am quite warm anyway. So in this sample of one 18 is good and 16 or 17 is ok. I think we have used about 400 kWh of gas this month on heating but our house is quite difficult to heat and if it’s cold outside we can use 100 kWh in a day and not even be warm.0

Yet during the morning and afternoon we don't feel cold, just after our tea when we then sit and watch TV.0 -
