What_time_is_it said:Seems like a lot of people haven't turned on the heating at all?! Our house would have been about 10-12 degrees at some points without any heating this month. We've not had it on much, but I couldn't sit at my desk on work if it was under 12 degrees! And it wouldn't be good for the house either in terms of damp, etc.
We live in a maisonette though so inevitably get some benefit from neighbours heating etc, even with windows open the coolest the hallway has dipped to is 20C. The only time the place has ever gone below 15 degrees was when we went away for 3 weeks in winter and the Mrs had left the back door open.0 -

We are in a position that we don’t particularly have to worry about spending an extra £10-30 a month when required.0 -

Although this seems a lot compared to others, I can compare with our own use in Oct 2023 which was 950 kWh . So it appears that Oct 24 will be a massive improvement. That is because I’ve become much more energy conscious and we have learned the appropriate settings for the ASHP. Plus we are better insulated this year.
.My friend up in Aberdeenshire is a hardy lad and has had his heating on from mid September .When I lived in a terraced house in Yorks the house did nt get really cold ever but my detached bungalow with a tree cover is much much colder , currently now in my main room with no heating is 12 c . I usually have a low base of around 10 c and the heating of some sort will go on1 -

Full 13m worth of detailed use if use the right apps is mh understanding.
Evrn ihd gives recent history - last 7-8 days, last 4-5 weeks, last 12-13 months and last year.
But I do record and chart. Have kept use records for years even pre smart.1 -
Zero so far.
The coldest the house has been was about 16.5c earlier in the month but currently it is at a nice 19c.
My office is usually a few degrees warmer when I'm in it due to the couple of hundred watts of computer and monitors so I'm currently sat in shorts and T-shirt with the window open to keep it at 20c when it is 9c outside.
The last couple of years it has been around Bonfire night when the heating has been switched on which was when the daytime temperature in the house dipped below 17c.0 -

For me even heating to my low temps cf many - it's easily over £100 vs summer even last winter when mild here mg heating was off for several days in Dec and Jan.
More typical cold month nearly £150 - in large part due to being all electric - even my off peak rate over double -> over treble the cost of gas now its gone low again - or rather had been low.
My neighbour uses over 7000 kWh annually - again all electricaI - I now use less than the Ofgem median tdcv 3900 kWh on average - and last year 10% below my 5 yr average .
That heating to just 16C living room /14 C min elsewhere to stay below even tbe old 4200 kWh tdcv. Which years ago I was above.
But in order to do so I find have to triple layer to remain comfortable - thermal long sleeved t shirt, shirt and cardigan, leggings, trousers, thermal socks / slippers . Not quite the extremes of padded ski wear and hats etc some will go to survive at 10 or even below .
I tried lowering to 14-15 in lr, but started to get pain in back of hands after few hours at desk on pc., cheap fingerless gloves did cure that. But decided that a step too far for me. As if impacting one part of body, what else might it be doing elsewhere.
And I am not of OAP age or unfit as I used to be a decade or so ago - a more regular cyclist / walker even in winter.
I do turn those temp targets up when have visitors - but for their comfort - not mine. And the energy used / bills respond accordingly.2 -
So far this month I have used 314 kWh for both heating and hot water.

Stored on the meter yes, but the likes of N3rgy will also store the data on their servers if you are using an app like Hugo or Loop so data can go back further on those services.

Haven't really used any heating since May, so only gas use has been for hot water and cooking (& not much of that as I eat a lot of salads). However gas will take a hammering this coming weekend as an elderly friend is coming to stay, who is just flying in from a week in a warm climate. I expect excessive heat that will be required will actually make me feel quite ill, as I am usually OK with house hovering around 15C. I use heat if I need it, but just wear an extra jumper if it is borderline, as I find itmore comfortable/healthier for me than excessive heating.0

227 kWh for me in central Scotland for heating and hot water and compares to 308 kWh last Oct. Apart from a few cold days (one car window needs scraped morning) it's been quite mild. My heating is set to come on twice a day when temp drops below 17c and hasn't come on every day. I am dreading getting a particularly cold winter, as it's not been too bad the past couple of years.0
