It's not dropped below 16 in my house yet, so I have put in on only a handful of times. Prob 8 hours all in this month.  I mean I was wearing a t-shirt outside yesterday so it's strangely warm for October.
    Winter is coming though!
  • It's that funny time of year when it's often warmer outside than inside. I'm in a t-shirt outside, but in the room I work in I have to wear a massive warm jumper.
  • I’m at 1550kwh for gas but I do have a gas range on all the time. Decided after 2022 life’s too short to freeze. House set at 19c when I’m home. 4 bed detached. Have it a bit warmer when guests are here.

Large house in South east of England.
So what ? It's not comparable with anyone else....there are to my variables.
I might turn the heating on in the West Wing if it gets much colder and we havn't refilled the swimming pool yet.

Thanks, I'd probably be looking at a split, for both space and noise reasons, but it's always interesting to see others' approaches.

Blimey.  Last time I went out this month was in my big coat - although it was a hospital appointment so I knew I couldn't wear more than a couple of layers, and that when I went inside it'd be warm enough.  If it had been a normal going out, probably 4 layers and a coat.  Our heating went on at the end of September.

East Devon - Central Heating not turned on yet, although we do use a log burner in the evenings. Usage from 1st to 18th Oct, Gas = 124 kWh and Electricity = 100 kWh.

It's odd this year - we usually start running the CH, for a burst in the mornings at first, around 4th Oct.
  • I made a BIG mistake yesterday - Alexa "reliably" informed me it wouldn't rain yesterday, so I pegged some washing out yesterday morning. Guess what, it rained plenty yesterday and although the sun came out again in the afternoon, by the time I brought it in after work it was still wet  :|

Rather than get the Dr-Buddi out, I decided to hang it up in the kitchen and heated this room only (zoned GCH) to a whole 16degC for 3 hours whilst I ran the dishwasher.

My daily standing charge plus consumption presently comes in under £2 per day. I went back into the kitchen to find the smart meter displaying £6.50 - the bulk on gas - and promptly switched it off, wondering if I am ever going to swich it back on again. £1/ph to heat a single room is just too much!!

Daytime temps here in Cheshire are still 14c - 17c even managed a 20c a couple of times this month, usually get at least a couple of hours worth of Sun in the mornings which is still strong enough to warm the living room and main bedroom to 21c - 22c and these hold the heat and still rarely dip to less than 18c overnight.

Heating usually doesn't go on until we have several days in single figures and a few consecutive nights with frost. I tend to switch on the heating manually based on Comfort level, rather than what Alexa or a Smart Thermostat think I should be feeling. It worked well for our parents / grandparents
