I've lit the log stove pretty much every day in October, I hate being cold, as does my cat.....

Other than that, just using the heat pump in the bedroom and IR heater in the bathroom so about 35kWh electricity used for heating.
    I’m confused.
If you have a heat pump that heats the bedroom why not use that source to also heat the bathroom and the rest of the house?
I thought using a heat pump for just one room ( radiator? Underfloor?) would be terribly uneconomical.

Hi - this is an air to air heat pump that serves a single room - basically an air conditioner with a reverse gear so it can be used for heating. As opposed to a whole house air to water system that uses radiators.

About 3+9+4  = 16 kWh for heating (daily total - normal summer ave) weekend before last.

(The 9 was on Sun when used the nsh as well  - it takes more energy than gives then settles down)

Used oil rad on low c1kW in lr for a few hours of on / off and 1 small nsh on low setting (1.8kW input) for c36 hrs (4 or 5 charge cycles on my e10 3x daily)  as temps in lower hall / kitchen dipping sub my 14C anti mould target level by the Sat night)

2 bed mid terrace - EM.

I’ve just checked my (still dumb) smart meter and we have used 496 kWh so far in October. Although this seems a lot compared to others, I can compare with our own use in Oct 2023 which was 950 kWh . So it appears that Oct 24 will be a massive improvement.
That is because I’ve become much more energy conscious and we have learned the appropriate settings for the ASHP. Plus we are better insulated this year.

I won't find out until getting into the heat pump cupboard next week, but not enough   we've moved the thermostat control (? whatever it's called) back to the colder end of the room and the heating's now kicked in better.
[It's set to 18℃ so nothing extravagant but someone had put it by the kitchen door which, being a small kitchen, obviously gets up to 18℃ a lot easier than the rest of the house due to cooking heat.]

Our heating has been on and off and on again since September, September seems to have been colder than usual here, just north of Glasgow.

Cannot stand the cold, large house (280 sq m), but reasonably well insulted.   Octopus tell me we used 741 kWh of gas in September, compared to 255 in 2023,  and 663 so far in October,  😮 ,  despite having been away for 10 days.

Had a 14kW Baxi back boiler dating back to some time last century. Used to use ~8500kWh of gas, but started messing around with a home automation system (fancy programmable thermostat) and got down to around 3500kWh. Unless you are tech savvy, the system I use is not likely to be your cup of tea. Even so, you can get an "off the shelf" programmable thermostat (Drayton Wiser) that could potentially save you up to 15% on gas consumption.

Her courage will change the world.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

It has also been a mild October with plenty of sunny days. My insulation has not changed from previous years and I've not even had my heating on yet, which is unheard of this far into October.

No idea- it comes on when it’s cold and off when it’s warm

We are in a position that we don’t  particularly have to worry about spending an extra £10-30 a month when required.
