My direct debits have been showing in my account for 14 days now, but still not been taken. They say 'pending' is this normal? My switch is in progress now, I thought I had chosen a big enough window for them to be taken.

Depends on the direct debit source. Utility/credit card bills will normally set up a new mandate straight away but won't actually draw a payment from it until the normal point in your billing cycle.

If they're established they should be fine for the switch - there's no need for them to actually draw either side (for this switch) but it is useful to have some proof that they existed in case they go 'missing'.
  • Just had the text and £175 is already in…….just to note my last nationwide switch paid out and account was closed a few months after the date quoted to qualify for this £175😉

When did your switch complete ?

My switch has just completed. I paid in £1000 and used the debit card once my account was open but before the switch completed. It looks to me that the terms say this is ok for receiving the bonus. Has anyone done this and can confirm that they received the bonus?

I note that the recent Co-op offer does say that the payments must be made after completion of the switch, but Nationwide does not seem to say this.

I did the £1000 in and DC payment before the switch, switch completed on 10/10, no news yet but I will repeat the steps again this week.

Terms say they will pay within 10 (presumably working?) days, so I'd give it a bit before making a complaint
made a payment yesterday and transferred £1000 in again this morning.
Received a text this afternoon and £175 is in the account.

    Maybe a coincidence, maybe not

Competed switch on the 15/10. Text confirmation and paid today (17/10). I did my debit card transaction and £1,000 transfer well before the switch date.
  • This has been a complete nightmare for me...
Tried for 2 weeks to open a new account: the app and website wouldn't let me.
Ended up ringing the phone banking, explained my issue, and they let me to the switch over there phone, took an hour.
Then my app stopped showing my old accounts and mortgage.
They told me I now had a new Customer number, details coming in the post.
Today my app stopped working altogether I can't even log in anymore.
Waiting for the magic letter 😥
I've been with them 20+ years, never had a problem, but this is a complete pain.

Is the offer like past nw offers where you can get incentive for both sole and joint current accounts ?
    Thanks

Be sure to file a complaint. I'd be expecting compensation for this sort of distruption.
  • Has anyone used www.30pence.co.uk or other similar low cost DD sites to set up the two DD's? If so any recommendations or things to be aware of, easy to cancel afterwards etc?

Don't really want to move any of my existing DDs to the burner account I'll be switching from.

    Thanks in advance.
