Tomato have broken their silence on the 30 minute discrepancy!

The Tomato CEO, Farouk Alhassan, has joined the Tomato Customers Facebook group and this afternoon posted an update stating they are fully aware of the issue and are implementing a fix over the weekend/early next week to fix the issue for November bills.  Also stated they will be working through older bills to rebill.

We will have to wait and see but it's a start! 🍅

1 April 2021 when company was called Logicor Energy offering time of use tariff to domestic customers

He's a busy man, looking at all his directorships on the Companies House website (13 current active appointments!).
Somewhat hilariously one of them seems to be a scaffolding company.
Only 3 are current active appointments, I can see no mention of a scaffolding company

I've decided to switch from E.ON Next Flex to Tomato Lifestyle. Main reason is the £4.20 decrease a month in the standing charge. I've been pleased with E.ON's customer service and app but the standing charge irritates me. Anyway will see how it goes as it appears very easy to switch supplier these days so can always move on ;)

Process was almost too easy and had instant emails from Tomato and E.ON so so far so good. Switch is due to complete 1st December I'll post my progress.

  •   I switched on 6th November to Tomato Lifestyle and it went very smoothly. MyWatts ( their equivalent of an app and online account) worked almost immediately showing use and costs ex Vat & SC every 3 hours.
Be aware though time slots may out by 30mins affecting how much you will be charged. They say they are fixing this early this week so you may not be affected.
I’ve saved £25.00 so far compared to the SVT so very pleased.

It is Tomato Scaffolding though. I would guess it's probably related to solar installation.

I managed to get tariff changed to the EV version - slightly cheaper still and 6 hours off peak. The mywatts data seemed to update at the time of the change - although they did say it would be backdated to the start of the month as the bill hadn't been produced yet. However it's still out re the half hour issue, they did suspect that may correct itself on upon changing tariff but that hasn't happened. Hopefully they will fix this week but not too bothered at the moment, I'll assume the off peak is 5.5 hours for now, that's plenty for me to get the car charged.

Bit of an invasion of privacy that you can enter your neighbours address and view their electricity bills  :#
You can view usage, not sure what benefit anyone could gain from this.
Imagine you're a debt collector / paparazzi / burglar - you can see when person wakes up, when they come back from work, if they're home or on holidays. Bit of glimpse to their finances as you would know how much they pay..
I know you can tell most of these things by looking at their house and seeing lights on :)

It is quite grey area really, the government website with EPC rating allows also to see a lot, like what insulation they have, what boiler .. :D
You can only see the total used per month not daily or hourly usage. Still some won't be happy  :|
It's not even that, figures for our place are wildly out. I think they've reverse engineered the monthly estimates from the estimated annual use. In our case our solar went in at the end of May which would screw that up, but would be consistent with the estimates they showed.
  • I was curious to see how Tomato stacked up against Dec 23 Tracker using the (Octopus) Compare app. Disappointing to see that Tomato is not in the list of products that can be added for comparison. That said, the same applies to Brit Gas, EDF, and most of the big names from how I read the instructions.

You can add a custom tariff by specifing the half hourly cost.  Takes a few mins to set up.
  • I am struggling to see how this would work for anything other than the simplest of other tariffs
