    Did online form to open this last night about 11pm
    Woke up to an email saying that the account is approved.
    Does say it will take up to two days to show on the app. Hopefully not. Will let yous know.
    Application was straightforward.
    I had no previous accounts as well.

    Am thinking this will be a good account as my Chase bonus ends in Dec.

    Ulster bank. I thought that the LE saver which I applied for last night (thanks for the update @jaypers ) was in my app this morning already but it turns out it's the current account which I had applied for earlier in the day. It just popped up with no email notification at all.

    Ulster bank. I thought that the LE saver which I applied for last night (thanks for the update @jaypers ) was in my app this morning already but it turns out it's the current account which I had applied for earlier in the day. It just popped up with no email notification at all. 
    same here - but with the added bonus for us that Ulster have performed a hard search on our credit reports... there is a notification in the app that the debit card will be here within 10 working days.

    I got an email to say my account was open and 'ready to use' despite not showing in the app.  I just tried to pay in a test £1 from Nationwide; it passed the Nationwide check, but the transfer then got rejected/refunded because they did not 'recognise the sort code and/or account number'.  I'll try again once it shows in the app.

    I just got the same - my sending bank is showing "Rejected - Beneficiary Account Details Unknown" as the cause... payment to the current account when through fine though.

    possibly a soft search if you are a new customer to confirm your identification details, but there shouldn't be a hard search for just opening a savings account.

    Hard searches are only carried out for credit applications (and not necessarily for all of them), i.e. not for savings accounts.
