Reading the 'access to money' section, have I read this right, unless you have an UB current account, this is an app-only account?
Personally, I enabled biometric settings in the app, so I need to show my face to login to AB, but I don't think you necessarily need the app to use the account.2 -

I got an email to say my account was open and 'ready to use' despite not showing in the app. I just tried to pay in a test £1 from Nationwide; it passed the Nationwide check, but the transfer then got rejected/refunded because they did not 'recognise the sort code and/or account number'. I'll try again once it shows in the app.0 -
There is a distinct discrepancy in what Ulster banks website States about this Limited Edition Saver account, and what they tell people when asked directly.
The website says that you don't even need to be a customer to have the account, yet you can't apply for it if you don't have a current account with them.
I don't have a current account with them but I do have a savings account with them. This morning I contacted them online and they told me that I neither needed to be a customer nor do I need to have a current account and they provided me with a link to apply for it. The link didn't work and so I contact them again and now they say that I do need a current account before I can apply for it, despite their website saying that I don't even need to be a customer to have it.
What a total shambles. Clearly many people must have contacted them about this discrepancy between the website and what they say and yet it goes on unresolved.

Further clarification has just been received from Ulster Bank. Now they say that existing customers do need to have a current account before applying for the Limited Edition saver account.
Whereas new customers to Ulster Bank do not need to satisfy that condition.2 -

Edit to add:
So I wonder where previous customers stand?
Further edit:
Can't believe they've again launched a decent account, and again failed to make the application process intelligible.0 -

Let's see what they come back with.1 -
The latest response to me:
"Thank you for bringing this to our notice. We will certainly look into escalating this to our dedicated team to make the changes in our website"
This says to me that absolutely nothing will happen to rectify this. So I've written back to them and I've said that what I'm looking for is for them to not "look" into escalating it, but to escalate it and fix it so that the true application detail is shown on the website today if possible.0 -
