    Re: Ulster bank LE Saver

Reading the 'access to money' section, have I read this right, unless you have an UB current account, this is an app-only account?
you should be able to access via Anytime Banking - e.g logging in online.... when I started the dummy test  application last night, it does take you through the steps of registering for online access... possibly if you aren't going to use the app, then you *might* need to use their card reader.

Personally, I enabled biometric settings in the app, so I need to show my face to login to AB, but I don't think you necessarily need the app to use the account.
Re Ulster Limited Edition access, it appears to me no app, nor card reader is necessary. I wasn't a customer until last night (i.e. no current account). Applying on the website, I got my login customer number, did their face/ID check, and chose my passwords/numbers. I can log into the website, without a card reader, the only thing is it says "we're unable to display your account.... If you've just successfully opened an account, it can take up to two business days before it's available in Anytime Banking." I have had an email to say the account is "set up & ready to use," though.
my recollection is that you might need the card reader when setting up payees (i.e to withdraw money to another account), but it was such a PITA, it is easier to use the app for that.

The card reader is exactly the same as NatWest and RBS if you have one for those, and even the same as the Nationwide card reader I think. When I applied for a savings account with Ulster many years ago they sent me a "Anytime Banking Card", identical to a debit card but without the debit!, the card reader never turned up so I use the NatWest one instead. If you have multiple cards there is a drop down to choose which one to use with the reader.

    Ulster Bank Limited Edition Saver

I got an email to say my account was open and 'ready to use' despite not showing in the app.  I just tried to pay in a test £1 from Nationwide; it passed the Nationwide check, but the transfer then got rejected/refunded because they did not 'recognise the sort code and/or account number'.  I'll try again once it shows in the app.
I just got the same - my sending bank is showing "Rejected - Beneficiary Account Details Unknown" as the cause... payment to the current account when through fine though.
It is pretty poor that an account that passes COP isn't able to accept deposits.

There is a distinct discrepancy in what Ulster banks website States about this Limited Edition Saver account, and what they tell people when asked directly.
The website says that you don't even need to be a customer to have the account, yet you can't apply for it if you don't have a current account with them.
I don't have a current account with them but I do have a savings account with them. This morning I contacted them online and they told me that I neither needed to be a customer nor do I need to have a current account and they provided me with a link to apply for it. The link didn't work and so I contact them again and now they say that I do need a current account before I can apply for it, despite their website saying that I don't even need to be a customer to have it.
What a total shambles. Clearly many people must have contacted them about this discrepancy between the website and what they say and yet it goes on unresolved.

Further clarification has just been received from Ulster Bank. Now they say that existing customers do need to have a current account before applying for the Limited Edition saver account.
Whereas new customers to Ulster Bank do not need to satisfy that condition.

Opened last night.  Didn't mind that I was in Spain.  Got account number and sort code.  Still waiting for account to appear online or in app

Well that's cleared that up then...not😄

    Edit to add:
So I wonder where previous customers stand?

    Further edit:
Can't believe they've again launched a decent account, and again failed to make the application process intelligible.

I have asked them if they will make adjustments to their website to reflect the fact that existing customers need to hold a current account, whereas new customers don't.
Let's see what they come back with.

    The latest response to me:

"Thank you for bringing this to our notice. We will certainly look into escalating this to our dedicated team to make the changes in our website"

This says to me that absolutely nothing will happen to rectify this. So I've written back to them and I've said that what I'm looking for is for them to not "look" into escalating it, but to escalate it and fix it so that the true application detail is shown on the website today if possible.

I’ve never had card reader for Ulster. I set up all payees in the app, this can also be done online. When I closed my loyalty saver I transferred money to my current account.
