Opened last night.  Didn't mind that I was in Spain.  Got account number and sort code.  Still waiting for account to appear online or in app

Further clarification has just been received from Ulster Bank. Now they say that existing customers do need to have a current account before applying for the Limited Edition saver account.
Whereas new customers to Ulster Bank do not need to satisfy that condition.
Well that's cleared that up then...not😄

    Edit to add:
So I wonder where previous customers stand?

    Further edit:
Can't believe they've again launched a decent account, and again failed to make the application process intelligible.

I have asked them if they will make adjustments to their website to reflect the fact that existing customers need to hold a current account, whereas new customers don't.
Let's see what they come back with.

    The latest response to me:

"Thank you for bringing this to our notice. We will certainly look into escalating this to our dedicated team to make the changes in our website"

This says to me that absolutely nothing will happen to rectify this. So I've written back to them and I've said that what I'm looking for is for them to not "look" into escalating it, but to escalate it and fix it so that the true application detail is shown on the website today if possible.

    Re: Ulster bank LE Saver

Reading the 'access to money' section, have I read this right, unless you have an UB current account, this is an app-only account?
you should be able to access via Anytime Banking - e.g logging in online.... when I started the dummy test  application last night, it does take you through the steps of registering for online access... possibly if you aren't going to use the app, then you *might* need to use their card reader.

Personally, I enabled biometric settings in the app, so I need to show my face to login to AB, but I don't think you necessarily need the app to use the account.
Re Ulster Limited Edition access, it appears to me no app, nor card reader is necessary. I wasn't a customer until last night (i.e. no current account). Applying on the website, I got my login customer number, did their face/ID check, and chose my passwords/numbers. I can log into the website, without a card reader, the only thing is it says "we're unable to display your account.... If you've just successfully opened an account, it can take up to two business days before it's available in Anytime Banking." I have had an email to say the account is "set up & ready to use," though.
my recollection is that you might need the card reader when setting up payees (i.e to withdraw money to another account), but it was such a PITA, it is easier to use the app for that.
I’ve never had card reader for Ulster. I set up all payees in the app, this can also be done online. When I closed my loyalty saver I transferred money to my current account.

I held the old Loyalty Saver but closed that last December. I was therefore treated as a "new customer" even though the customer number I was given was the same one that I had before. Suggests "new customer" is anyone who doesn't have an open account with them.

I held the old Easy Access with zero balance for at least 5 years, the account was never closed (it is still opened today).  When Ulster launched Loyalty Saver I had to apply as a new customer, the old customer number didn't work and I thought my account was closed.  I was surprised to see my old account showing on the app with £0.01 balance.

Is anyone funding the Ulster Ltd Ed Saver before it appears in their Ulster online or app page?  Is it best to wait for it to appear or will it not appear until it is funded?

I tried as I mentioned earlier.  Transfer of £1 from Nationwide was rejected and returned.  Will now wait until appears in app.

It takes a day or the account to activate.  Funds will be rejected if the account is not appearing online or in the app. I opened one yesterday and funded today.
