It was really easy sorting out a car!  There were very few criteria to finding one:  a) it had to be at a dealer fairly close to home as I don't drive long distances! b) it had to be automatic and c) it had to have a boot big enough for DH to fit his golf buggy into!  As we've only got a few local dealers and other than the one we went to they are all main dealers so nothing in the low price range we were looking at it made sense to go there first!  They actually only had 3 automatic big enough cars so the choice was really narrowed down!  One was out of the window immediately when I asked how much the tax was - it was over £700 a year!!!!  It was the current range of a car we bought way back in 2002 so just as well we don't still have that old car!  The salesman said lots of people had liked that one but walked away after finding out the tax rate.  There were 2 others which both looked good and for some unknown reason DH preferred the older one of the 2 which was also cheaper.

Right enough about our new to us car and back to SW.

@Mrbowie - I agree with @maman that the mince is probably Syn free as you can't see any fat in it.

Well done @maddiemay - that's brilliant still being in target after your holiday and not having to pay.  I'm still trying to lose the weight I put on earlier in the year!  Doesn't help it was actually 2 AI holidays of course.

@maman - I used the PON smoked haddock and spring onion fishcake recipe yesterday and they were very tasty.  Usually I just use roughly equal quantities of mashed potato (just mashed without adding anything to it) and then whatever fish you want to use.  I've done them with tinned tuna (not much flavour); tinned salmon or cooked fresh salmon.  This is the first time I've done them with smoked haddock and will definitely make them again.  I didn't make the full recipe as the haddock was only a pack of 250g but it still made 8 fishcakes; we had 4 yesterday and I've frozen the other 4.  A stronger tasting fish definitely makes a nicer tasting fishcake.

    Today's plan:

    B - kedgeree
L - toasted cheese sandwich, pickles
D - gammon steak, egg, new potatoes, veg (will include chard and courgette from the garden)

    HEA1 - milk
    HEA2 - cheese
    HEB - bread
Syns - lolly 6; cereal bar (maybe) 4

    Have a good day everyone.

Morning all ,forecast dry and breezy today but doesn’t look like it at the moment. WM on so fingers crossed.

Congrats on the new car @joedenise - and that’s how I make fish cakes, very tasty with smoked haddock and loads of spring onion 😋

Well done being in target after holidays @maddiemay 🎉 and your chilli sounds lovely @Mrbowie and reminds me I have some in the freezer!

Was thinking of you on Tuesday @bubbs you’ll have loads of lovely memories of your dad.

Apologies if I’ve missed anything, just had a quick read as it’s been busy here. Nothing exciting just a few more appointments for parents than usual and trying to sort out some additional support that’s getting sabotaged 🙈😠

Oooohh the big news is I managed to snaffle four packs of vine tomatoes yesterday for 20p a box 🥳🥳🥳 I was so happy!

    Today’s food:
B - bran flakes HEXB, berries, yoghurt 0.5
    L - l/over roast ham, salad, pickles
D - jerk chicken tray bake. DS cooking and includes fresh pineapple so will have to syn jerk paste and cooked pineapple (no idea the syns for this yet)

    Have a good day everyone.

Update:  lunch plan changed already!  I made far too much kedgeree for breakfast so we'll be having the leftovers for lunch but as there isn't quite enough for 2 portions we'll share what there is and have bread/LF spread with it to make it filling enough.  Bit carby again but don't want to waste it.  Will also be adding some more curry powder as was a bit mild this morning!

Have weighed myself and haven't lost any more since my cheeky WI on Monday so just 0.2lb off this week so still just over lb over top end of target range.

Forgot so say I've also done a machine load of washing and hung it out on the line but not much breeze but at least it's dry and sunny.  Currently washing/waterproofing both mine and DH's jackets in the machine.  Will get those out on the line as soon as the machine finishes.

Well done on your bargain tomatoes @Jellybaby - I never find anything like that but that's probably because I go shopping at the wrong times to find decent YS stuff!

    Hi all,

Feels like ages since I posted but I’m still here and keeping mostly to plan. We won’t talk about the Indian takeaway at my friends’ house in Chorley or the pizza DH cooked us on Sunday to eat whilst watching the football. I have tried very hard to remain on plan since the weekend but feel bloated and chunky. I’m running home this evening – couldn’t do so last night as I’ve a bite on my ankle and it was throbbing all day yesterday – feels a bit better today.

That year has flown past @bubbs – glad you were able to get together to remember your DDad yesterday x

Congrats @NornIronRose – great news and welcome back xx

Great you found a new car so smoothly @joedenise. Ours is still being assessed/fixed – hoping to get it back in the next few weeks.

Dinner is creamy leek and mushroom pasta bake this evening. We are off to see Fly Me To The Moon at the cinema – haven’t been for nearly 2 months so we are looking forward to it.

Shame you couldn't lose just that tiny bit to get into range @joedenise. I know you're not going to group but it's a psychological thing. Next week. 🤞

I've been feeling a bit bloated too @Coxy11, probably because WI for me tomorrow. It's always the way. ☹️

Thanks for the fishcakes recipe @joedenise. Aldi sell offcuts of smoked haddock so I'll definitely try those.

After your meal out yesterday @bubbs, I checked to see if we have a Hungry Horse. Delighted to see the pub in walking distance is one and the prices seem reasonable. It'll be useful when the kitchen is out of action. Also, trying to keep the HM ready meals stocked up.

Today I batch cooked chilli as I used the last portion yesterday. It's really easy in the SC @Mrbowie if you can find the time.

    Today's plan -
B- HEB toast, HEA1 milk, bacon, egg (P), baked beans (F)
L- JP (F), cottage cheese (P), salad and pickles (S)
D- spaghetti with meatballs in tomato sauce (P, F, S), HEA 2 Parmesan
    Syns - 0
