Glad you enjoyed the crunchy couscous on the KFC @maman. I've found a packet of instant mash in the cupboard when I was looking for something else! Didn't realise I had another pack in there. Need to check the date on it and then I might take it with me when we go shopping and put it in the Food Bank trolley - I'm pretty certain it'll be in date as they usually have a long date on them. If not then I'll probably make it up with the various herbs and spices and use it up on KFC for the next few times just to get it out of the way!
Hope you can sort something for lunch even if it's just some fruit - better than not eating at all!

Thanks @joedenise. I j had a tin of sardines and an apple! Fortunately, I had a paper plate so didn't have to eat the sardines straight from the tin! Will be more organised tomorrow as didn't know this was happening today until after breakfast when we just managed to rescue the kettle and teabags! 🤣0

Hi all,
It’s no fun not having a kitchen @maman – hopefully it won’t be for too long. Hope the paper plate was sturdy enough for the sardine juice lol!
We are starting the hike back in Gloucester @joedenise and walking down to Tiverton in Devon over 10 days. Looks like rain for the first couple of days unfortunately L I haven’t had time off since the wedding in June, so I’m really looking forward to getting the headspace.
Good to see you @Matron_Midge and @maddiemay xx
Today’s food:

Glad you managed to find something @maman! Definitely a good job you managed to grab the kettle and teabags before you couldn't get into the kitchen - would have been a sad morning without!
Have you got any cooking facilities outside the kitchen? For example have you got a microwave you could move into the living room for example. At least you could have something hot if you wanted to.
@Coxy11 - cheddar is 30g for HEA not 20g so you could have had a bit more (or 40g of low fat cheddar in which case it would be 0.5 HEA).0 -
Thanks @joedenise. At the moment the kitchen is only out of action for the middle of the day when the builders are working. The fridge is in the kitchen but freezers are now in the dining room. Good idea to move the microwave though as it's heavy and I wouldn't want to be carrying it back and forth, easier to carry the food. 😁
Builders have gone now so I've cleaned up enough space in the kitchen to make dinner.
I have got a two burner portable hob for when the kitchen is completely out of action but I'll try to keep using the cooker for as long as I can.
I was pleased to be able to throw the plate in the bin after the sardines @Coxy11 but I did drain the can first.... in the bathroom! 🤣0 -

Well done @beanielou x
Funnily enough we were discussing pies over dinner tonight. DH can’t abide a pie!! Or quiche!! Not a proper dinner apparently….
The cheddar is portioned up already @joedenise - in a net from the supermarket. Easier (and less dangerous) to grab and go!
The SE firecracker chicken was amazing. Had 2 tbsp of brown sugar and 2 tbsp of sirracha sauce. Unsure of syns but helpfully split 4 ways and a very low syn day otherwise (just 0.5 for my yoghurt).Cross-stitch WIP: Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 11/25 Currently reading The Cliff House by Amanda Jennings1
