Evening all, it's been a long day and not getting anything other than shopping done! DH had a hospital follow up appointment for his knee and we got there at 10.50 for an 11am appointment. We left home an hour earlier and then had to wait nearly 2 hours so didn't get out of the hospital until 1pm by which time we were both hungry so ended up going to a Hungry Horse for lunch and then went to do shopping.
Our lunch wasn't worth the time or money. I had the half roast chicken which was very dry, a mini corn on the cob and a salad which were both also very dry so not enjoyable. DH had fish and chips and they looked as though they'd been recooked and they were also only lukewarm so he complained and then sat and waited for a fresh meal. By the time it arrived I was almost finished and he had got over hungry so only ate the fish and mushy peas and about 3 chips. Why on earth they couldn't just do a decent meal first time! No way should his first F&C have been sent to the table. We won't be using that pub again - that's for certain. We've used a couple of others in the past and they've been good so we'll stick with those.
Sorry for the moan but really annoying!
I bought a 0% alcohol Thatchers cider when I went shopping. Can someone check the syns for me please? I'm hoping it's not too high!
So what have I actually eaten!
B - toasted cheese sandwich, pickled onions
L - half roast chicken (no skin), corn on the cob, salad - only ate about half the chicken and hardly any salad as it was mainly limp leaves and red onion
D - minced beef hotpot
HEA1 - milk
HEA2 - cheese
HEB - bread
Syns - 2 G&Ts 6, oil for lunch 3?
As I've stuck to syns this week hopefully it'll be a decent loss tomorrow!
Enjoy the rest of your evening.0 -

Me too @beanielou. Waste of time and money!0

Rather chilly here this morning! I’ve put on a long sleeved top and have a cardigan on standby when I go out later 🙈
Sorry to hear about the poor meal @joedenise I always find it a risk with salad. Just leaves is not my idea of a salad and they should get done under the trades description act 😜
Meeting a friend for lunch and I know in my head what I should order, whether that comes out my mouth is another matter!Just had fruit and Kvarg for breakfast and I’ll wait and see what I have for lunch and whether I’m hungry later or just have more fruit for dinner.
Have a good day all!0 -
Morning all, definitely a much cooler day today and no sun so far although the forecast is showing a bit of sun for this afternoon but still very cloudy. We had really heavy rain overnight, so bad it woke me up around 2am and I normally sleep through anything! I even slept through the 1987 hurricane, LOL!
No plans for going out today and not doing much housework other than the usual tidying round and hoovering. Have put a load of whites into soak so will probably do that tomorrow when hopefully the weather will be a bit nicer.
Pleased to say I have lost another 0.7lb and am now just 1lb over top end of target range. 🤞for another loss next week and creep ever nearer to that elusive number!!! It's been a long time coming.
Today's plan:
B - mushroom omelette (fresh mushrooms not th manky ones from the Aldi TGTG bag!)
L - greek salad
D - corned beef hash
HEA1 - milk
HEA2 - feta
HEB - none planned
Syns - olives; corned beef; red wine
Will go over syns today but will use the syn bank again as of course it is reset day today.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
That meal sounds disappointing @joedenise. I would be fed up too. TBH the meal we had with Mum at ASK wasn’t wonderful. The verdure bowl was mainly baby leaves, with a little pearl barley and a few bits of roasted veg. It was £13.95 with an additional £2.50 for some roasted chicken (about 7 thin strips). I know it’s more than just the cost of ingredients but when you consider you order/pay on an app at the table, it does grate slightly.
It’s Woman of the Year/food tasting at group tomorrow. I have bought blueberries and strawberries as tbh a 7.30am meeting isn’t conducive to proper food!
Dinner tonight is chicken pesto pasta. We are off to the cinema to see Wolverine/Deadpool and I have some sugar free liquorice to enjoy. Not too much though……!
Hope you enjoyed your meet up @Jellybaby x

Well done on your loss @joedenise. Not far to go to target range. 🤞 for next week.
I do hope the local Hungry Horse is better than the one you went to . We've not been there for years (used to be a Beefeater) and the trip advisor reviews are 4+ so I'm hoping that when the kitchen is out of action we'll be OK for the odd dinner. We have a carvery in walking distance too, otherwise it's pub grub in a Greene King.
We find those sort of prices are pretty standard around here too @Coxy11 although there is one country pub that does a decent prix fixe menu that we use quite often. 😁
The Italian we're going to tonight is definitely for special occasions only. The bill will come to more than a week's food shop! 🤣
It's been a lovely day today, better than forecast (sorry @Jellybaby) . I didn’t decide until late morning to put some washing out and it's all dried. 👍
I've had a SW breakfast (fry up) and a vegetable hash with some ham and pickles for lunch. Tonight will probably be super synful then I'm back on plan for a week.0
