I could manage shoogling of pom-poms, from my recliner deckchair in the dappled shade I love …. 🤔😉

My plan is to take it slowly and gradually increase my steps by walking gently at first and building up my stamina. A daily walk would be good - I just have to get motivated and make the effort to DO it
  • Much sympathy from me @FreetodoasIlike and I hope you are feeling better now. The heat really hasn't helped. Have you made a plan? Do you want to share it? Always happy to shoogle pompoms in the colour of your choice for the progress of others. Less keen on making my own changes obviously.
The best description I have heard in decades!!! 😂😂😂 thank you so much @redofromstart - you have brightened my week and I will spend the rest of my days shoogling pompoms!! 🙌🥳😁

    Morning all 🌞 I’m back! 😊

Weighed myself this morning and the damage isn’t as bad as I feared it might be - no change since I last weighed in and still 4lbs down on when I started tracking on 6th April. I am pleasantly surprised by this. Think the amount of gardening I have been doing might have been part of this.

I have been watching my self talk over the last few days and trying to reframe it - so going from “I have weight to lose” to “I am living a life that is positive for my mental and physical health” etc. Apparently the brain responds to what the actual meaning is of the words - so by saying I am already living in a positive way, I am literally putting my brain into that ‘space’ whereas by saying I have something to do it becomes more of a burden.

I have also been watching where the ‘inner demand’ for junk or excess of anything is coming from.
The demand for sugar when in work, is arising from being bored or just having had enough of being in work! Thinking about what I will do when I get home (cuppa by the pond with Mr KK or pottering in the garden) seems to help calm that ‘screaming’ …. Another big one is the habit I have got into of having a snack when I get home …. Haven’t fully unpicked / resolved this one yet. It’s something to do with security and feeling safe about being at home, fully landing, I  think.

I need to watch my calorie intake when I am working so hard in the garden atm as I haven’t gained over the last three weeks so I better not reduce my intake too much. Let’s see how I get on 😊

I do like the positive self talk idea. I try all the time, but easily fall back into berating and insulting myself. It’s a hard habit to break.

    Well done on the maintain!

I've had a couple of weeks off, and need to get back on track again.  I don't think I've gained which is luck more than judgement.  It's noticeable that my motivation increases when I have time off work and am not rushing around so much (or so stressed) so I need to try and manage that somehow.

I also do the negative self talk as well.  I also don't believe I will actually lose weight as I've tried so many times before and not succeeded.  I need to turn that thinking around!

  • I totally agree @KajiKita in terms of positive self talk.  For me, it is the difference between "I can't have that if I want to lose weight" and feelings of poor me, it's not fair to "I choose not to have that in order to benefit my health".  The more I take a pause before eating to let those positive thoughts happen, the better I do (unsurprisingly).

I put 2lbs on over the past couple of weeks and have now lost those 2 so happy with that.  I'm off again next week so will try and work that out to aim to stay the same that week - I can get very out of control.  I'm the opposite of you @jwil in that I am better when I am working as I am very structured and can organise myself really well.  When I'm off it can be all over the place and very self-indulgent - getting a bit better at that with using the app.  One of the things I am always struck by is how much I can have for the calories if I just make slightly better choices here and there.

Hope everyone has a good week.

  • Love the idea of positive talk to help lose weight and shoogling the pom-poms sounds good.
