I have been tracking everything for 2 weeks, with more calories on salad and vegetables than ever before and avoiding bread for the most part. In 2 weeks I have lost half a pound. The trackers show I am having between 500 and 600 calorie deficits each day with the exercise thrown in. I have no idea what else I can do, so will need to keep plodding! It’s very strange as I am weighing and measuring everything even down to the dilute sugar free juice.

@WinterWarrior, this might sound like a daft suggestion but have you had your thyroid function checked recently?

For anybody who has stayed the same weight just think how much you could have gained if you weren't trying to be more healthy.

Something that I was probably slow to realise is that no matter how much "diet" stuff I tried to replace my regular junk food with, it was actually just not eating any rubbish that I needed to get my head around. I have also tried to make sure that I drink enough during the day. I've given up all the chemical filled drinks and now I have coffee, herbal tea or water.

I've lost 1 lb this week and the HT forgot to get on the scales but he looks so much better for giving up sugar filled junk food.

  • Too true @CRANKY40.  I try to remind myself that it’s all practice for maintaining in the end.  As I have a lot to lose I am a veteran of losing loads in a week but also of putting on loads in a week so a STS seems to indicate some stability to me.
Well done on the loss and the HT looking better.  One of the few vices I don’t have is pop or artificial drinks of any kind.  Plenty of others though (sigh)….

I haven’t (ever), but I don’t think I have any other symptoms to point towards that. It’s a thought though.

I do like fizzy pop, but only have one a day and not fulllfat versions, but not scary sweetener versions either. Barr pineapple and Raspberry are very low cal without being diet.
Cranky you and the ht are doing great.

I'm not hugely into fizzy pop, and I don't mind sparkling water.  I think for a few people it is the hidden calories in things like smoothies, fruit juices and many cups a day of sweetened milky drinks that can really add up.

I've been using my ultrasound thing on my ankle which seems to be helping, and I have actually tried to rest it this week, well apart from a few shorter walks and a lot of gardening.

I used to have to make myself have a very set routine to make me go. At 2pm on M, W, Th I would leave the house and do my run. No excuses, no delays. Alarm set on my phone etc.  worked for me
