First Direct £175 switch offer. 26/03/24

I don't know for certain if this is still the case but I was able to get the FD £175 switching offer last year despite having opened 2 HSBC current accounts since 2020 (1 in 2021 and another in 2022), though I've never had a HSBC switching offer. I'm pretty sure I've seen reports of people receiving the FD switching offer and then getting the HSBC offer a few months later so it seems that like the NatWest group, the HSBC group banks aren't the best at communicating with each other.danco said:They say the offer does not apply to those who opened an HSBC account after 1 Jan 2018. Does that kind of condition usually get applied? I know that the RBS/NatWest/Ulster offer said you could only apply to one but in practice people got all three. I have never had a First Direct account but opened an HSBC Advance account last November, and it is still open for its final bonus.

It would seem so, they got the news out before everyone, even FD themselves!cymruchris said:

A nice thing about this offer is that you have to transfer two direct debits or STANDING ORDERS. And presumably if you are switching from a burner account one standing order can be into your regular account.0

So just to clarify, I had a first direct bank account until about 2016, so I'm not eligible right?0

Could you use 1 standing order and 1 DD? If so, standing order into regular account and paypal direct debit funding. Easy and free.danco said:A nice thing about this offer is that you have to transfer two direct debits or STANDING ORDERS. Yep that was me on that post, I've had 2 bonuses from both banks (4 total) latest ones in April 2023 from FD and May 2023 from HSBC. I won't be trying again just yet, might give it a year or two to give them enough time to 'forget' me again.danny13579 said:

I have had a first direct account before, but it was at a different address. How likely do you think it would be that they notice if I tried to get this switch offer? I haven't had any previous switch offers with FD so I find it a bit annoying that I'm excluded. I suppose I could open an account just to get the cashback from topcashback and attempt the switch bonus while I'm at it.0
