Advice pls. I have set up 2 standing orders (which are due to be debited on 2nd April) on my chase, which I want to switch to first direct. Does anyone know if I need to wait for these to be debited before switching, or can apply for switch today? Thanks in advance
As bank switches won't actually happen until 7 working days from the start of the switch request even if you apply for a switch now you can be certain the SOs will have been taken, if they're due on the 2nd, before the switch.  And, if FD allow you to set a date for the switch you can set it to start the 7 days sometime after the 2nd if you're really worried.

I might be in with a chance here (But the difference in dates: '1 Jan 2018' FD, '1 Jan 2019' HSBC doesn't help much)
I had an HSBC opened in 2017 for a two part offer - which meant I think I could not close before Summer 2018 to get the second part and in the end I closed in 2019 ... I think I did at least)

And I have held a FD account before - but opened in 2006 and closed in 2014 and then I moved - so my previous address won't come up on any application. So I definitely didn't open an HSBC account (after 1 Jan 2018 or after 2019 b.c I still held one!)

So I think I can apply for this at least. [But when is FD going to stop saying '2019' and to move to '2020', eh?]
.....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam

Last years offer was 2020 - they've gone back a year this year.

I’ve just seen on the First Direct conditions to get the £175 you have to send them a voice note for voice recognition. You have to say a nursery rhyme! 🤣 You have a choice of twinkle twinkle little star or the first two lines of old MacDonald had a farm.. crazy

Where did you see this? The terms I can see say

*Complete a full switch using the Current Account Switch Service, from a participating bank or building society, including at least 2 Direct Debits or standing orders. Then deposit £1,000 and log on to digital banking, within 30 days of your account opening. New customers only, who haven’t previously held a first direct product. Sorry, we also can’t offer this to people who have opened an HSBC current account on or after 1 January 2018. Subject to status. Offer ends 22nd April 2024. UK residents only.

No you don't. There's nothing in the offer terms that requires you to set up voice ID.

They do encourage voice ID when you phone them - but you can opt out. And you don't, necessarily, ever need to phone them.

    From their FAQs on this:

    How does it work?

When you call us, we'll ask if it's ok to record your voice. If you agree, we'll get started. (If you don't, no problem, we won't apply it to your account).

On that first call, everything will be just the same. You'll go through the same security questions that you're used to. And, during the conversation our clever systems will analyse your voice. Then, the next time you call, it will double check everything. And if you're happy and we're happy, it's good to go.

From then on, whenever you call... our systems will be working in the background to confirm it's actually you. Simple as that.

A nice thing about this offer is that you have to transfer two direct debits or STANDING ORDERS. And presumably if you are switching from a burner account one standing order can be into your regular account.
Could you use 1 standing order and 1 DD? If so, standing order into regular account and paypal direct debit funding. Easy and free.
are standing orders and scheduled payments same thing ??
