Gone for the switch but not sure if I’ve done it right.

Used the TCB link and entered details

scanned QR code to download/install app

Selected to ‘Join as new customer’

Gone through the setup and I now have a new account! Didn’t ask me about switching.

So clicked the 3 dots on my new account and selected the ‘switch to us’ option and entered the details of my account I want to switch in.

Is that correct and will I be eligible for the switch offer?

Yes, that should be fine - opening an account and switching are entirely different processes. Some banks ask you about switching whilst going through the account opening process. but FD don't as far as I'm aware - they do, as you've found out, just open a new account, and leave it to you to take the initiative to actually switch. It's a little unhelpful of them!

Thanks! Done a few switches lately and this one was certainly ‘different’ to the others!

Will see what further contact I get in the next couple of days.

are standing orders and scheduled payments same thing ??
Hi, I would like to know the same thing.  I have set up a scheduled payment from my burner Starling account into my main account.  I would like to know if that will count as a standing order to qualify as part of the 2 needed for the switch? Thank you
EDIT: Just seen on the app that the recurring payment is now under the heading "standing orders" so assume it is ok for this purpose

They’ve made a complete mess of mine, see my other thread,  basically account opened fine, cards etc all received and switch initiated, they then closed the account without warning only telling me I must have been accepted in error.

Hi all, hoping someone can confirm next steps. I initiated a switch last week to FD all went through smoothly, account accepted and all digital codes, pins, and passwords set up so I can access the account within the app straight away. Husband’s application went through, but at the end of the application it said they need to do further checks. 2 days later, email received saying account is open, great. But how does he now set up all the digital codes and pins and passwords to access the app? Join as a new customer initiates another First Account application… but he’s not an existing customer as he didn’t get to set up the details during application?!?

any help will be much appreciated

    thanks

You’ll get a letter in the post with a telephone banking password and the card will arrive too. Once you have that register for online banking in the app and follow the steps. This same thing happened with my wife when she signed up :-)

Thank you, appreciate your help 😊

  • TopCashback now offering £45 (classic rate) so an extra tenner cashback if you haven't signed up yet. And they seem pretty quick paying out too. I got my cashback today despite only opening the account 12 days ago. Usually I have to wait many weeks just to get a few pennies worth of cashback from most places!

And the £175 CASS offer is still available too for a little while longer.
