Hi fsdss!:hello:
Thanks for sharing such inspiring news hunnie! What a fighter!
I know he still has a long way to go and I'm keeping you both in my thoughts.
Equally, my thoughts are with anyone else in similar situations and hoping they'll get some good news as well.
I hope that by this time next year, Rick will already be a frequent MSE visitor himself! Don't forget to grab some dizzy water and TLC for yourself, hun!
Keep up the good work Rick!Sending huge love to you angel and I'm so glad that 2008 is starting off with smiles for you and yours.
Much Love,

had confirmation today that it was glandular fever that had caused this - was advised by the doctors to contact Rick's girlfriend and advise her of such as it is known as the "kissing disease". so spoke to girlfriend and she states that she has had glandular fever for about 6 months and has been treated by antibiotics:mad:. almost lost my cool with her as i have mentioned the possibility of glandular fever countless times (why she didn't think this was important to mention lord knows) this would have eliminated all the other worries and tests of how he ruptured his spleen.
anyway Ricks doing fine- just rang and checked :j. his best friend reckons that having his teeth cleaned for the first and last time of the year is certainly an achievement for Rick in one day!!!
can't bring in food to Glenfield hospital so organising is out of the window.
we had a takeaway tonight - a rather large curry slid down my throat very well - going to crack open a bottle of Cava in a short while, i'm saving the champagne for a special occasion and hope to share a glass with Rick..
feel exhausted but certainly more relaxed and will definitely sleep well tonight.
Happy New Year to you all and i propose a toast for the life of Rick and all those other people in hospital tonight.Give blood - its free0 -

I'm so glad Rick is improving. Hopefully, he'll come along in leaps and bounds now.
I used to give blood, up to a few years ago. Then they decided because i'd had a transfusion in 1986 and 1995, I could no longer give. It was fine up until they changed the rules. It doesn't fill me with confidence that they don't think it's good enough now!
For those who have never given blood before, go ahead and try it. It's probably about the most relaxing time you'll have all week.0 -

fsdss,
I've been following this thread as I saw the title and was curious. I am glad to hear that Rick is improving. He sounds like a very special young man.
I am also ashamed to admit that I have never given blood, also petrified of needles. However, I too, will make it one of my resolutions to give blood this year. My Mum, Sister and Husband all do it, so I am just going to suck it up and do it too.
Here's hoping that 2008 sees a full recovery for Rick.
