I have been following this thread and just wanted to say what fantastic news that rick is on the mend

I gave blood for the first time about 3 weeks ago (and am also scared of needles) and Ricks story has proved to me why and inspired me to continue

May 2008 be a wonderful year for you and your family.

I used to give blood regular until I became pregnant ( can't give blood within 12 months of giving birth or having tattoo's ) and then it seems I have either been pregnant or had tattoo's done which has stopped me . I have another tattoo booked for very soon but before I go I will make sure I give blood again , every pint helps !

Been reading this thread for the past couple of days and wanted to say how pleased I am that Rick is improving. What an awful time for your family.

I wanted to add to the list of people urging others to give blood - I've been a donor for longer than I care to mention and it always gives me a warm feeling to hear how useful that small gift can be. Having a relatively rare blood group, they often call to make sure I'm going to donate.

I'm currently suspended from donating because I'm pregnant and won't be able to give until 2009, but wanted to say please, please consider becoming a blood donor - it takes a very short amount of time, but can give so much to others. The staff are really good if you're a bit shy of needles and will help put your mind at rest and make you feel comfortable.
