Thankyou for letting us know how Rick is. It just seems to be one thing after another. I hope he makes a full recovery and is soon feeling better.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

Hi i just cannot get Rick out of my head i just wish i could do more to help
Rick has a great team looking after him and thats so important to know i know when my mam was very ill i would be sitting and i just have to leave her room because i wanted to show everything was in control but inside your world is falling apart because my mam is my world and i would go to the toilet and cry.
My mam was in hospital for a long time and when we got her home we had banners up everywhere.
And Ricks day will come i really believe that

update
spent a long time at the hospital today they are looking at the possibility of moving Rick to Glenfield hospital some 40 miles away (probably tomorrow). the reason for this is because of his oxygen level and the tiny hole in his lung, and Glenfield is a leading hospital -usually this would repair itself but because Rick is being given loads of oxygen its just blowing out again.
he's had a surgical procedure to put a drain in this afternoon. The consultant stated that they were expecting complications with Ricks condition but glad really that its something that they can manage. Rick has had a good rest and when i eventually got to see him i was worried because he was breathing quite heavy although the slight panic was only short lived as i could see all the doctors and nurses chatting about how to make a beef stew!! so guessed if they were not worried then nor should i.
My children painted a picture for Rick, my 6 yr old drew him and Rick in the garden looking up at a rainbow, he remembers the water fight that they had with the hose which was so much fun but i was choked about its contents.
i read to rick his countless cards etc and put them up beside the bed on the partition wall - i managed to stroke his hair and kiss him today - and i also told him that he was coming on holiday with us again this year and that he could bring his friend (we've only ever had 2 years where Rick has not been on holiday with us).
they have removed one of the tubes attached to his face and have cleaned him up - the nurses were asking us how to do his hair and how he usually wears it .he looks sparkling clean today, and they've made a real effort to present him well.
Becca has told her mum and dad about this thread, i'm going to print it off and take it in with me tomorrow - everyone is choked and it is really helping Becca and I - as we are sure it will help the rest of the family including Rick.

thanks for taking the time to contiually update this thread with his progress - it must be hard for you to fit in between visiting him and maing sure the rest of your fam are as well as can be expected in this situation.
its amazing what the human body can withstand provided the human soul is prepared to fight, and its looking like Rick is going to be a testament to this.

Thank goodness he was a healthly strong lad previously to this as this is probably what is giving him the strength to fight, that along with the obvious love of his family.
So scary that this seemed to come on so quickly so thank goodness your medical team seem very good.
Best wishes to you all its hard to know what else to say but I will continue to check on his progress xx0
